Composer, author, writer, producer and director, the son of Archie Gottler,
educated at Connock School and a piano student of Walter Freed. During
World War II he served with the Signal Corps Photographic Center, and
worked as a scenarist on seventy training films for the War Department.
He was also a scenarist and a songwriter for films, and also wrote,
directed and produced television short subjects. Joining ASCAP in 1941,
his chief musical collaborator was his father, and his popular-song
compositions included "How's About It?", "He Took Her for a Sleigh
Ride", "Yes, There Ain't No Moonlight, So What", "Bye Bye Mr. Dream
Man", and "The Girl on the Isle of Man".
