Rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is still moving forward with plans for a Spider-Man and Daredevil crossover.

Initially planned for Spider-Man 4, the concept involved Spider-Man joining forces with Daredevil to take on the infamous Kingpin, who now serves as the Mayor of New York City.

The crossover was envisioned as a grounded, street-level storyline, centering on their battle against crime in the city.

Unfortunately, last year’s Hollywood strikes disrupted those plans. Now, Spider-Man 4 is set to align with a larger Multiverse narrative, bridging two major Avengers films—Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

This change marks a departure from the original street-level concept, pivoting instead toward a grander, high-stakes storyline.

Reports are swirling around that Marvel Studios has not shelved plans for a Spider-Man and Daredevil crossover.

Originally set for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ the idea was to have Spider-Man team up with Daredevil to take on the notorious Kingpin, now the Mayor of New York City.

This team-up was supposed to be a more grounded, street-level narrative, focusing on their fight against crime in the city.

Unfortunately, the Hollywood strikes last year threw a wrench into those plans. Now, ‘Spider-Man 4′ is poised to be a part of a larger narrative involving the Multiverse, sitting between two major Avengers titles—’Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

This shift suggests a move away from the original street-level concept to a more expansive, high-stakes storyline.

However, it seems Marvel might revisit the street-level concept in ‘Spider-Man 5.’ According to Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, the dynamics between Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Kingpin are set to evolve.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe hasn’t been faring too well since teaming up with the MCU. Don’t get me wrong, Spider-Man’s standalone movies within the MCU have been an absolute triumph, swinging from one spectacular hit to the next. But let’s be honest, Sony’s left holding the bag of Spidey villains, and while Venom has been a surprisingly successful antihero, the rest hasn’t exactly made the leap from potential to profitable.

It was initially reported that Spider-Man 4 would be a street-level adventure pairing the web-slinger up with Daredevil to battle Mayor Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. New York City's Kingpin of Crime.

Had last year's Hollywood strikes not happened (with the movie released next summer), chances are these plans would've panned out. Instead, Spider-Man 4 is now sandwiched between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, all but ensuring it will be a high-stakes Multiversal adventure.

Ideally, Marvel Studios also needs to get Daredevil: Born Again season 2 on Disney+ before committing to this team-up but it does sound as if the plan is for Spider-Man 5 to revisit this concept.

Even yesterday, an apparent Sony Pictures Japan leak appeared to confirm recent reports that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will finally share the screen with Tom Hardy's Venom. 

We've long wondered how Marvel Studios will top what we saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home when Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield assembled to do battle with a sinister quintet of villains.

Marvel reportedly wanted Spidey’s story to continue with a street-level fourth instalment and all of the signs at the end of No Way Home pointed in that direction, from the unveiling of the classic costume to the paring back of the series’ supporting cast.

Sony, presumably overjoyed by the film’s almost $2bn worldwide theatrical gross, was said to be keen on reprising the film’s crossover success, bringing back multiple Spider-blokes and continuing to probe at the multiverse – something that has served the studio well with its animated Spider-Verse films.

Based on a short story by MacMillan Hedges, details about the plot are being kept secret, but insiders are comparing it to Interstellar mixed with Top Gun. Berger will direct and produce, working from a script by Hedges, who is also producing.

Butler is set to star and will executive produce. The project hit the market on Wednesday, sparking interest from top executives just ahead of Thanksgiving.

Back in September, we got word that two of the Dark Knight's most formidable foes are set to forces for a new live-action Dcu movie, with a Bane and Deathstroke project officially in development at DC Studios.

Details were few and far between and no director was attached at the time, but Captain America: Brave New World writer Matthew Orton was said to be working on the script.

A follow-up report suggested that other characters might also appear, as it wasn't clear whether Bane and Deathstroke "would be the central figures of the project." This led to speculation that it could actually be another supervillain team-up, possibly even a Secret Six movie.

James Gunn never actually commented on the report, but he has now confirmed that plans are in place to introduce Slade Wilson (at least) to the Dcu at some point.

The Red One, released in the theatres this Friday, resulted in a harsh drop in Venom 3’s collections. Tom’s threequel is currently the lowest-grossing film in the franchise. There is a drastic difference between the critics’ rating and the audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics gave it a poor 41%, but the fans rated it 81%. It has also become the highest-grossing comic book movie in China post-covid by surpassing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’s total collection.

It’s been a long time coming, but the first film from Gareth Evans in over a half a decade is finally set for release in 2025. Getting here has been quite the road.

Gareth Evans made a huge impact on 21st century action cinema in 2011 when he wrote and directed The Raid, which introduced the world not only to the fierce Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat, but also to Iko Uwais, who dispatched body after body with brutal efficiency. 2014’s The Raid 2 upped the ante on the violence considerably, letting characters like Baseball Bat Man and Hammer Girl loose and featuring quite possibly the best prison brawl this century.

It’s been nearly five years since it was first announced that Tom Hardy would star in Havoc, a new action thriller from The Raid director Gareth Evans. The film has certainly been a long time coming, but it will finally be released on Netflix in 2025. Empire dropped a new image from Havoc featuring Hardy sending some poor bastard to the emergency room. You can check that out below, as well as a few more from Netflix itself.

As production wrapped up four years ago, you might be wondering what the hold-up has been; according to Evans, that came down to the difficulty in scheduling additional photography, which required some very specific people to be in the same place at the same time. Netflix is ready to release a thrilling action thriller that promises to stretch the genre’s boundaries. “Havoc,” starring Tom Hardy and directed by Gareth Evans, will give an exciting cinematic experience in 2025.

The film follows Hardy’s character, Detective Walker, on a desperate rescue mission involving the nephew of the city mayor. When a drug deal goes out of control, Walker must negotiate a difficult urban setting to save the politician’s son.

Director Gareth Evans, best known for his work on The Raid, brings his characteristic high-intensity action choreography to the film. In an interview with Empire magazine, Evans emphasized the film’s distinctive approach. “When it comes to a film called Havoc, we deliver on the action front,” remarked the executive producer. But with Tom Hardy, you also get an intensely muscular central performance with real depth.”

Hardy’s role is set to be more than just an action hero.

It collected $118.41 million on its opening weekend. It grossed $358.99 million at the US box office and $486.55 million overseas. The film’s worldwide collection was $845.55 million. Dwayne Johnson’s latest holiday movie “Red One” topped the weekend box office. Still, questions remain over its hefty $250 million production budget. The film, starring Johnson as Santa’s chief of security and Chris Evans as a bounty hunter, debuted in 4,032 cinemas to mixed reviews.

Despite tepid critical reviews (the film now has a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences responded positively, awarding it a promising A- CinemaScore. The film has already grossed $50 million abroad, increasing its total to $84.1 million.

Amazon MGM has confidence in its theatrical plan. “Whether or not people like it, the value of these movies is different for our business model,” said Kevin Wilson, the company’s head of theatrical distribution. “Gladiator II” entered the international box office arena with $87 million from 63 markets, a powerful start for the quarter-century-in-the-making sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 best picture winner “Gladiator.”

This marks the biggest international R-rated opening weekend for Paramount Pictures as well as the best overseas debut for Scott, whose highest-grossing films include “The Martian” ($630 million globally), “Gladiator” ($465 million globally) and “Prometheus” ($403 million).

“Gladiator II” also scored in Imax with $7 million from 453 screens, standing among the company’s top three international debuts of the year.

The sequel enjoyed the strongest launch in the United Kingdom with $11.4 million from 722 locations, followed by France with $10.3 million from 729 locations, Spain with $5.6 million from 411 locations, Australia with $5 million from 353 locations and Mexico with $4.7 million from 922 locations. The sword-and-sandal epic, starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington, touches down in North America and Canada on Nov. 22, where it’ll compete for screens with Universal’s big-budget musical adaptation of “Wicked.

So “Red One” is bound to spark yet another debate about what qualifies as a success at a time when streaming services are scrambling traditional business models. Case in point: “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which was released by Warner Bros., was instantly labeled a flop with $37 million to start against a $200 million budget. But last year’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” from Apple and director Martin Scorsese, was categorized more favorably after opening to $23 million despite a similarly huge price tag.
