Helped Martha Hart, widow of his younger brother Owen Hart, set up the Owen Hart Foundation.

Was the leader of the New Hart Foundation, a faction that included his late brother Owen Hart, his brother-in-law Jim Neidhart, his late brother- in-law Davey Boy Smith, and the late Brian Pillman, a Hart family friend. Sadly, as of 2018, Bret is the only surviving member. Owen, Bulldog, Anvil, and Pillman all incurred premature deaths.
