- Received acting lessons from Julia Serda and Hans Junkermann in Berlin.

On stage from 1933 at the Berlin Schlosstheater, Carola invariably played complex, emancipated women, usually in musical comedy and (in that specifically German genre), the 'Heimatfilm'. She graduated to character roles by the 1960's and was still active in television well into her nineties.

- The movie "Schloss Königswald" (86) was a homage to the great stars Marianne Hoppe, Carola Höhn, Camilla Horn, Rose Renée Roth, Fee von Reichling, Marika Rökk and Ortrud von der Recke. Together, the actresses were awarded the Bavarian Film Prize for Best Actress.
