Iyer, the detective from Palakkad who solves the mystery of Omana’s death, became so popular that three sequels were made in the next 17 years. The music in the background when Iyer walks away with clues is still hummed and whistled and set as mobile phone ringtones. Mammootty played Sethuramaya Iyer, appearing 46 minutes into the film, when the family has lost all hope of finding the truth behind Omana’s death.

This year’s festival promises to be one of the best showcasing 11 Independent Films, 2 Music Documentaries and a host of talent over 10 days in 3 cinemas!

11-11-11, that is when Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar will hit cinemas everywhere. Ranbir says it has been an incredible journey from the first shot to promotions to getting ready to release the film to the world. Malayalam film megastar Mammootty will be starting shooting for his next project Mathilukalkkappuram by the end of this November. Nayantara will play the female lead in this movie.
This movie is a sequel of the National Award winning Malayalam movie Mathilukal, which was directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan in 1989. This film is again an adaptation of a novel titled ‘Mathilukal’ by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.
Mammootty played the lead role in the original movie also. Actors like Murali, Karamana, Janardanan Nair, Krishnan Kutty Nair and Azeez played other important roles in this movie. The film was screened at the Venice Film Festival and received well recognition there.
In the meantime, Mammootty will start filming for another new movie tentatively titled as August 15, which is also a sequel of the movie August 1. He will start shooting for this movien from the 15th of this month. Mammootty will revive the role of an investigative officer called Perumal,...

Director Shaji Kailash, who is making a sequel of director Sibi Malayil’s 1988 movie August 1, is going to start shooting of the movie by this week end.
The original movie had Malayalam film megastar Mammootty was seen playing the lead role of a Crime Branch Detective named ‘Perumal’ (Dsp). This officer fights against time to stop the looming murder attempt of the Kerala Chief Minister.
Mammootty will again don the role of the officer ‘Perumal’ in the sequel. The sequel, which has been titled August 15, will be shot entirely in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram. Mammootty will shot an entire movie here after a long time.
M Mani will be producing the movie under the banner of Aroma movies. The script of the sequel will be written by S N Swamy.
