For four straight years now, After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films to Die For has been unleashed. Eight original horror films to quench your thirst for blood and gore and screams galore. Last year I was able to check out and review their third collection of horrors (Read: DVD Review: After Dark Horrorfest III: 8 Films To Die For), and was rather excited to check out their new slate this year! Instead of cramming every review into one mammoth review, this year we'll take it one flick at a time, with this little opener stuck at the top of each one.

For the last of these 8 Films to Die For, I chose to save Zombies of Mass Destruction. The general idea of zombies -- some form of infection...

Zombies of Mass Destruction is one of six other films that have been officially announced as participating in the 8 Films to Die for Film Festival. In celebration of the announcement Zmd now has a sleeker more political look in this second one-sheet. Slyly political and horrific in one bite, Zmd will be available to fans across America beginning January 29th, which begs the question when is Horrorfest coming to Canada? A synopsis for Zombies of Mass Destruction:

"An idyllic island town is under attack the that most invasive of pests: zombies! Port Gamble is being overrun with braineaters and the people seem powerless to stave them off. But wait, a rag tag band of rebels is trying to turn the tide and push the invading hoards of undead back.

When's the worst time to come out to your parents? Xmas? Eh, possibly. But as long as you do it after gifts have been given and checks cashed, no worries. Thanksgiving? Maybe, but you'd always hated that serving plate your mother dropped when you told her, right? What about during a zombie invasion? 

Yeah, that could be a problem. For Tom and Lance it most certainly is.

In director Kevin Hamedani's Zombies Of Mass Destruction we follow Tom and Lance (and others) as they make some importance decisions during one of the most inopportune times imaginable: a zombie uprising.  Returning home to Port Gamble, the small, isolated, Washington town he grew up in, New York businessman Tom (Doug Fahl) -- both pressured and supported by his lover Lance (Cooper Hopkins) --  is finally ready to come out and tell his widowed mother that he's gay.
