Kent Shelton(I)
- Stunts
- Actor
- Additional Crew
Shotgunned as a prison snitch by Woody Harrelson! Blown across a barroom by Will Forsythe! Slammed to the floor by Sylvester Stallone!
Kent Shelton has abducted Sandra Bullock as a secret agent... subdued Sean Astin in a bar fight... and to this day remains the only Chinchilla Wrangler in the history of Saturday Night Live.
One of the founding members of the Hanlon-Lees Action Theater (the venerable Chicago stunt company which conceived and developed the original three-act theatrical Renaissance Festival joust), Kent is a 1978 graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. In 1979 Kent also received his certification from the Society of American Fight Directors in NYC.
Since then, Kent has worked steadily as an actor, stuntman, jouster, wrangler, and fight choreographer for dozens of film, television, and theatre productions, both on- and off-Broadway...and even the MET, where he wrangled horses onstage during live opera performances, all while working as a carriage driver in Central Park by day.
Between movie gigs, jousts, and gunfights, Kent continues to write, direct, and perform in jousts at Renaissance Festivals and Wild West shows across the country.
Off-season, he presides over the 20 tranquil acres of Knights' Rest Ranch in historic Luther, Oklahoma. The Ranch houses Kent's vast collection of period wardrobe, tack, armor, and prop weaponry, up to and including several working horse-drawn vehicles; it is also a working ranch and "horse hotel" where travelers can feed and board their steeds overnight.
