‘The New Look’ Trailer: Ben Mendelsohn’s Christian Dior Seeks to “Create a New World” in 1940s Paris
Against the backdrop of the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris, Ben Mendelsohn’s Christian Dior is seeking to create a new way forward in the trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ historical drama, The New Look.
The 10-episode series, which reunites Mendelsohn with his Bloodline showrunner Todd A. Kessler, explores the interwoven saga of how Christian Dior, Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) and their contemporaries dealt with the horrors of World War II and launched modern fashion. Kessler created, wrote, directed and executive produced The New Look.
The trailer for the show teases tension between Dior and Chanel as the former ascends to prominence while Chanel’s status as the world’s most famous fashion designer is threatened.
“Christian Dior ruined French couture, and I’m coming back to save it,” Chanel proclaims at one point before later dismissively asking, “You think Dior is fashion?”

When President Joe Biden last week cited a report of a 10-year-old Ohio rape victim forced to travel out of state to Indiana to obtain an abortion, it quickly made national headlines in the heated environment following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe Vs. Wade.
In the days that followed, the story went viral, first as an example of the realities of new state abortion restrictions, then with doubts cast on the story by commentators on the right, such as Fox News’ Jesse Watters, who said Monday that if the story was not accurate, the mainstream media and Biden would be “seizing on another hoax.”
Hosts and pundits on Outnumbered joined in the doubting.
But on Wednesday, the Columbus Dispatch reported that 27-year-old Gershon Fuentes had been arrested in the case. Ohio’s Attorney General Dave Yost, who on Monday told Watters that his office had not heard “a whisper” of the case,...

An arrest has been made in the case of a 10-year-old girl who sought an abortion in Indiana after services were allegedly denied to her in Ohio. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Gershon Fuentes, age 27, was arrested on Tuesday. Law enforcement officials say Fuentes confessed to raping the child — whose identity has not been released to preserve her privacy — on at least two occasions, and has been charged with rape.
In the weeks leading up to the arrest, prominent right-wing pundits and government officials attempted to discredit the story as a liberal pro-abortion fantasy.

As “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss shop an overall global deal around town, the field has narrowed to Netflix, Amazon and Disney, sources tell Variety.
Earlier chatter pointed to rival players such as Comcast-owned NBCUniversal and HBO parent WarnerMedia also jockeying for a chance to ink an agreement with the showrunners, one that would span film, television and other platforms.
But it now appears that the two streamers and Disney are the major contenders for the duo’s future efforts.
Benioff and Weiss have already formed ties to Disney, and are currently working on a lucrative piece of intellectual property, developing an untitled “Star Wars” movie that’s set to debut in theaters in 2022.
That will be the first of several new “Star Wars” films the pair have signed on to write and produce with Disney’s Lucasfilm. It is no doubt a time-consuming feat,...

Damages and Bloodline co-creator Glenn Kessler has signed an overall deal for TV and film with Amazon Studios. Under the pact, the Emmy-nominated writer-producer will create, develop and produce original series and films to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide in more than 200 countries and territories.
Kessler, who started his career as an actor, teamed with his brother, Todd A. Kessler, for his first writing job on the short-lived CBS drama series Robbery Homicide Division. The Kesslers then partnered with Daniel Zelman to create and executive produce two back-to-back acclaimed drama series for Sony TV, Damages, which aired on FX and DirecTV, and Bloodline on Netflix. Last summer, Washington Post “Fact-checker” columnist Glenn Kessler wrote that the Medicare for All plan favored by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-vt) would cause “providers” to face an “immediate cut of 40 percent in their payments.” The piece was quickly amended to reflect that the cuts only referred to private insurance payments, leaving Medicare recipients untouched. A few days later, Kessler would repeat — and later correct again — the same error.
Now, Kessler is fact-checking another statement made by Sanders, this one about the financial crisis in South Carolina:

Washington — Ivanka Trump, President Donald Trump’s daughter and White House adviser, said she does not consider the media the “enemy of the people,” a contract to her father’s routine rhetoric about journalists.
At an event on Thursday sponsored by Axios, co-founder and journalist Mike Allen asked her whether she agrees that the media is the enemy. President Trump has used that term multiple times to describe the “fake news media.”
Ivanka Trump responded saying, “No, I do not.”
She went on to explain that she has “certainly received my fair share of reporting on me personally, that I know not to be fully accurate, so I have some sensitivity around why people have concerns and gripe, especially when they sort of feel targeted. No, I do not consider the media the enemy of the people.”

It’s been three months since Louise Linton was branded a “movie villain” when a leather-gloved photo of her and her husband, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, holding up sheets of newly printed money was skewered on social media.

When Bloodline‘s third and final season drops on Netflix later this month, eagle-eyed fans will notice something missing from the opening title sequence: The name “Ben Mendelsohn.”
The actor, who snagged an Emmy in September for his Season 2 work as late Rayburn black sheep Danny, is no longer a series regular. Mendelsohn’s deceased alter ego will, however, maintain a presence in the series’ 10-episode farewell. In fact, as exec producer Todd A. Things are not looking good for the Rayburn family. As you'll see in the full trailer for Netflix's Bloodline, everything is spiraling out of control! I don't know how they are going to get out of this situation. It really seems like there's no way out of what they've gotten themselves into. The big surprise for me would be if somehow they actually did get to walk away scot-free.
The final season will consist of 10-episodes, and if you haven't watched the series yet, you really need to check it out. Bloodline is one of the darkest and most twisted family dramas that's been made.
The series follows the Rayburn family, who "are hard-working pillars of their Florida Keys community, but their past contains dark secrets that they hope remain buried. Paranoia and mistrust build as lies pile up, alliances are shattered and an unthinkable crime takes place. The tight-knit...

Netflix has released the first promo spot for the third and final season of Bloodline and they also announced that the series will premiere on May 26th. I'm a huge fan of this show and it's going to be interesting to see how the story that was started comes to an end.
The series was originally planned for five seasons, but after Florida cut out their tax incentives on film production, the show became too expensive to produce so they cut it short. At least we'll get a solid conclusion to the story.
The final season will consist of 10-episodes and if you haven't watched the series yet, you really need to check it out. It tells such a heavy and intense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Can President Trump handle the truth? Can Twitter handle President Trump’s new interview about the truth?
In its latest issue, Time published an interview with Trump with a cover that reads “Is Truth Dead?” In the story, Trump talks about his own statements that have made headlines, his ability to sell magazines, wiretapping allegations, and more.
And Twitter had a lot to say about it. Most of it wasn’t positive.

I was excited to learn earlier this summer that Netflix had renewed Bloodline for a third season. This is such an intense series, and if you haven't watched it you should because it's one hell of a great edge of your seat thriller.
Unfortunately, the third season of this twisted family drama will be its last. The series was created by Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler, and when they first started, they hoped to tell this story they over the course of five or six seasons.
So season three wasn't supposed to be their last, but it looks like they are going to have to wrap it all up in the ten episodes of this last season. I'm kinda bummed out that the show is ending sooner than expected, but I'm sure the creators will finish strong.

The end draws near for Netflix’s Bloodline, it seems, after The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that the company’s brooding family drama will conclude with a third and final season.
Not only that, but THR’s report goes on to note that Netflix has now notified Sony that the show’s final bow will consist of just 10 episodes, down from the series norm of 13. That’s a surprising change of tact, particularly if you recall that back in July, Netflix brass exuded an air of confidence that suggested Bloodline had a long future on the streaming platform – heck, lead star Kyle Chandler joked recently that the Rayburns, the warring family at the heart of the drama, harbored enough dark secrets to fuel the Netflix Original long into the 2020s.

The Rayburn family is getting one last chance to put their lives in order and even less time than usual to do so.
Netflix renewed “Bloodline” for a third season in July, only a few weeks after Season 2 debuted on the streaming service. But THR is reporting that Netflix has now notified Sony, the series’ production company, that Season 3 will also mark the end of their Emmy-nominated drama series. Season 3 will also be shorter than previous entries, consisting of just 10 episodes instead of 13.

If you haven’t watched the first two seasons of Bloodline on Netflix yet, you need to remedy that right away. This is such a brilliantly crafted, intense, and twisted family drama that needs to be seen. With the way season two ended I hoped we would get to see a third season, and that next season is coming.
THR reports that the renewed show will get another 10 episodes and that it will return in 2017. Apparently there was a chance that season three wouldn’t happen because Florida’s state tax incentives expired and the state legislature voted against replenishing the funds, which means it will cost Sony Pictures and Netflix even more money to develop the series, which is shot in the state. It’s awesome that Netflix believes in the show so much that they are willing to pay the extra cash to make it happen.

If you've been dying to know what Meg Rayburn revealed to her mother at the end of Bloodline Season 2, you're in luck!
Just one day before the Emmy nominations, Netflix has ordered a third season of their original series Bloodline, from creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler.
Bloodline is a dramatic thriller that centers on a family of adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home.
The ten episode third season starring Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz will return to Netflix in 2017.
That's down from the 13-episode order of Season 1, but normal in the world of streaming television.
Seasons one and two are currently streaming on Netflix.

Update: Bloodline season three will be its final outing on Netflix, it's been confirmed. The final 10-episode run of the show will arrive on the streaming service in 2017.
Despite uncertainties surrounding its shooting location and an underwhelming sophomore season, Netflix has confirmed Bloodline season 3.
The Florida-set family thriller, from creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, is set to return in 2017 for 10 episodes. Stars Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz will return to the cast.
A third season nearly didn’t happen as the Florida-shot series would be far more costly to produce after the state’s tax incentives program expired earlier this year and the state legislature voted against replenishing the funds. According to THR:

Looks like the Rayburns have secured their immediate future on Netflix, after the streaming giant announced plans to renew Bloodline for a third season.
That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that the new season will span 10 episodes in total, as opposed the freshman run of 13 installments, and will premiere exclusively via Netflix in 2017.
Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini and Norbert Leo Butz were among the cast for Bloodline season 2, which proved to be notably underwhelming in comparison to its forebear. As such, we’re pleased to report that Sony’s familial thriller will return for another outing, though it’s unclear at this stage if the series will maintain tradition and lens in Florida Keys.
It’s still early days, of course, and in light of the renewal Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix, released the following statement:

“Bloodline” Season 2, now streaming on Netflix, is a must-see. And much of the credit goes to its star, Kyle Chandler.
From “Damages” creators Todd and Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman, the feverish Florida neo-noir is a dysfunctional family drama that reveals how and why three siblings would turn on their oldest brother (Ben Mendelsohn). The writers were fascinated by the roles taken on by each member of a family, from the black sheep to the fixer. When volatile wild card Danny Rayburn re-enters the scene, he disrupts the Rayburn family, led by its hotelier and matriarch (Sissy Spacek) and local detective John Rayburn (Chandler). (Mendelsohn and Chandler both scored acting Emmy nominations for Season 1.)
In Season 2, John and his two agitated siblings (Linda Cardellini and Norbert Leo Butz) must deal with the aftermath of Danny’s murder. Danny haunts them in more ways than one, not only messing with their heads,...

'Bloodline': The Rare Twist-Driven Drama That Gets Better in Season 2
One of the biggest struggles for any twist-heavy drama series is sustainability. Especially on broadcast, many surprising one-hour shows run out of gas in Season 1, forced to frontload their twists in order to attract an audience (or face cancellation). Though not on a network, "Bloodline" looked to be a prime example of this in its first season. The Netflix drama was so focused on hooking viewers right away it gave away its biggest secret in the first episode. Last Week's Episode: All the AMC Opening Title Sequences, Ranked And yet...Season 2 is somehow better. Despite a twist that can't be repeated (or backed off), the sophomore entry of Glenn Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Todd Kessler's extreme familial case study found a stronger angle than its early entry, honing a few troublesome areas and introducing exciting new elements that really work. "How'd they do it?" should be a question many modern showrunners are asking,...

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

One of my favorite online series of the year was "Damages" creators Todd and Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman's Florida neo-noir "Bloodline," a dysfunctional family drama that explains just how and why three siblings would turn on their oldest brother, played memorably by Ben Mendelsohn, who was nominated for a supporting actor Emmy.
