George Langworthy launched his career as a writer-director at age 12 with an action comedy film shot on Super 8. He continued his passion at Cambridge University where he wrote and performed with the legendary comedic troupe Footlights. He started out in Hollywood in the editing department of the Jeff Bridges film AMERICAN HEART and then moved into development at Avenue Pictures. As a fellow in the prestigious James Michener Center for Writers MFA program at the University of Texas, he wrote and directed several short films including BREEZEWAY which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
As a writer, he has worked on the staff of Channel 4's ARMSTRONG AND MILLER sketch comedy show and penned numerous screenplays including the feature comedy CAKE, which won the audience award for best comedy from The Other Venice Film Festival. His Halloween animated family comedy script, MY HAUNTED HOUSE, has recently started production.
As a director, George has helmed a variety of award-winning projects over the course of his twenty-five years in the film industry. He is best known for writing, producing and directing the environmental documentary VANISHING OF THE BEES, narrated by Ellen Page. The documentary received numerous awards and made a significant social and political impact globally. His directing portfolio includes animated shorts, music videos, commercials, documentaries and live performances of bands such as the White Stripes, No Doubt and Devo.
