Goofy story about the residents of a ritzy apartment block racing to get rid of a murder victim just isn’t that funny
The madness of the Hong Kong property market takes centre stage in this goofy Cantonese-language comedy, set almost entirely over the course of one chaotic night in a luxury high-rise apartment block. Directed by Ho Cheuk-tin, it imagines how a bunch of ordinary Hongkongers would handle the unexplained appearance of a very naked and very dead man in their building.
Proceedings kick off when Ming (Wong You-nam) is having dinner with his wife (Jennifer Yu) in the apartment owned by his penny-pinching mother-in-law (Teresa Mo). When they hear a sinister thump outside the flat, they go to investigate – and find the corpse. Calling the police, they agree, would be risky, as their apartment could become a notorious “murder home” and lose value. So they try to make...

After successfully debuting with her feature “28+1”, Hong Kong director Kearan Pang experimented with other media and formats, ultimately leading to the inspiration for what would become “Mama’s Affair”. Her work as creative director for singer Joey Yung’s concert series “My Secret Live” as well as a coach on the reality competition “King Maker” gave her some insight into the music industry, the way bands and artists are pushed and how talents are discovered. These themes heavily influenced the characters and the plot for “Mama’s Affair” which sees a former talent manager getting back to her old ways as she seeks to support the dancing and singing skills of a young man, an enterprise resulting in a promising start for a new career, but also in conflicts with her family.

Surely many will remember “Hard Boiled” as John Woo’s last film made in his native country (Hong Kong), as well as some sort of letter of introduction to Hollywood. But today, that perspective has already changed, since in 2008 John Woo returned to his homeland to shoot “Red Cliff” and there he has stayed all these past years. Little can be said about “Hard Boiled” that hasn’t already been said, and this is something more than obvious: “Hard Boiled” puts most recent action movies to shame. Very few reach this level of spectacularity (The Raid 2 from 2014 for example), and this is not something coming from this particular movie, but from almost all of John Woo’s action films. See “A Better Tomorrow” (1986), The Killer (1989) or “Bullet in the Head” (1990) for example. John Woo has a unique vision and a unique mastery, and that’s something that is patent...

International martial arts icon Donnie Yen [“Ip Man,” “Mulan (2020)”, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”] is back in the action-comedy Enter The Fat Dragon, “a hilarious, hyper-paced, rock-em sock-em blast of a movie!” (Ultimate Action Movies) debuting on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD July 14 from Well Go USA Entertainment. The film chronicles the events that transformed super-fit super-cop Fallon Zhu (Yen) into a records clerk with a major snack cake habit—and one shot to regain his job and his fiancée.
A hilarious parody of Bruce Lee’s 1972 film “Way of the Dragon” and a reimagining of the popular comedy martial arts film starring Sammo Hung, Enter The Fat Dragon was directed by Kenji Tanigaki (“Legend of Seven Monks”) and costars Teresa Mo (“Hard Boiled”), Niki Chow (“Heavenly Mission”) and Wong Jing (“Kung Fu Mahjong”).

"Don't let his huge belly fool you... Ten men can't defeat the chubby hero." Well Go USA has released an official Us trailer for the Chinese comedy Enter the Fat Dragon, which is opening in Us theaters later this month after first opening in China / Hong Kong recently. Yes, as the title indicates, this is a parody of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon, but about a fat martial arts hero instead of a super skinny one. Oh boy. A new action-comedy movie from martial arts superstar Donnie Yen. A police officer's suspect suffers a mysterious death, now he must team up with an undercover inspector and wok-wielding restaurant owner to solve the murder mystery. Donnie Yen stars as Officer Zhu, with a cast including Teresa Mo, Niki Chow, Wong Jing, Jessica Jann, and Philip Ng. I guess China is catching up with the fat suit comedy trope, because this looks...

There is an African saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. The full upbringing of a child until adulthood means that the social environment where the parents live must be subsidized. Particularly in the case of a child with a disability, the social impact has a greater influence than the role of the parent alone. If the parents are not financially solid or if the social welfare system is not sufficient enough, the lives of the parents end up being subordinate to the child.

"Men are brothers! Women are laundry!"So goes one of the many pearls of wisdom in Hong Kong director Vincent Kok's new romantic comedy, the bizarrely titled Love Is... Pyjamas. It appears from this rather perplexing, if enthusiastic trailer that Ronald Cheng plays a TV relationship guru who imparts pearls of wisdom on his female audience about how to best treat their men. Cheng stars alongside Teresa Mo, Raymond Lam, Lynn Xiong, Karena Ng, Raymond Wong - and rather unwisely, Ronald Cheng appears in Blackface at one point. No doubt all will be...

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
The Fighter – Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams
How Do You Know – Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson
Tron: Legacy – Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde
Yogi Bear – Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake, Anna Faris
Movie of the Week
Tron: Legacy
The Stars: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde
The Plot: Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the electronic world where his father has been living for the past 25 years.
