- In Formula 1, Stirling Moss is often known as 'the greatest driver never to win the world championship', having come second in the championship in 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1958. He was also third in the championship in 1959, 1960 and 1961, before retiring after entering a coma due to an accident in 1962.
