- Stephanie Niznik was born and raised in Bangor, Maine. She was a National Merit Scholar, an exchange student, class valedictorian, was invited to participate in the summer genetic research program at the Jackson Laboratory, and was the recipient of an Angier B. Duke scholarship at Duke University. Her intent was to become a geneticist, but decided to pursue acting. She graduated magna cum laude at Duke University with degrees in theatre and Russian language.
