The calendar will soon switch to January and Paramount+ will say goodbye to the holidays and ring in the new season: awards. The road to the Oscars is now in full force, and Paramount+ will bring glitz and glam to its Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on Sunday, Jan. 7 with the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards, celebrating the best of this past year’s film and television, including “Maestro,” “Barbie,” “The Color Purple,” “Succession,” “The Bear,” and more.
But if you’re starry-eyed for more than just statuettes, the streamer is adding dozens of originals and library titles alike, including the new British comedy series “Sexy Beast” and this year’s critically acclaimed “You Hurt My Feelings” starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Woody McClain, who currently appears in the Starz Power spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost, has been added to the cast of The Harder They Fall. The Netflix western stars Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, Rj Cyler, and Oscar winner Regina King. Jeymes Samuel, who co-wrote the screenplay with Boaz Yakin, is directing the pic. It’s about an outlaw Nat Love (Majors) who discovers that the man (Elba) who killed his parents two decades ago is being released from prison, he reunites with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge. Jay-Z, James Lassiter, Lawrence Bender, and Samuel are producing. McClain’s other credits include The Bobby Brown Story, The New Edition Story, and indie comedy Death of a Telemarketer.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) has revealed its 2018 intake of new members drawn from the film, TV and games industry.
Among the 386 new members are actors Hugh Grant, Willem Dafoe and Hayley Squires, directors Maren Ade (Toni Erdmann), Daniel Kokotajlo (Apostasy) and Michael Pearce (Beast), film execs Shana Eddy-Grouf (Studiocanal) and Katie Goodson-Thomas (Fox Searchlight), and La La Land producers Jordan Horowitz and Fred Berger.
Former UK and Ireland Screen Stars of Tomorrow in the new intake include producer Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly and actor Jessie Barden.

Alex Walkinshaw has praised his former co-stars on The Bill for helping him settle into Casualty. Ex-Hotel Babylon actor Michael Obiora and newcomer Madeleine Mantock have joined the cast of Casualty, Digital Spy can reveal. The new recruits will make their on-screen debut in the BBC hospital drama - now in its 25th year - in late August as newly-qualified nurses Lloyd and Scarlett . Obiora, who will play cocky new nursing recruit Lloyd, most recently appeared as receptionist Ben Trueman in axed BBC drama Hotel Babylon. The 25-year-old's other credits include Grange Hill and EastEnders, where he briefly appeared as the footballer boyfriend of former resident Chelsea Fox. Wednesday's opening episode of Celebrity Masterchef pulled in 3.32m (14.3%) for BBC One, according to the latest figures. The 8pm show, featuring celebrities including Michael Obiora and Jayne Middlemiss, was affected by a clash with ITV1's live coverage of the England game against Andorra. The match averaged a respectable 8.03m (35.5%) between 7.45pm and 10.30pm, peaking with 9.77m (42.4%) at 9.55pm. Later on BBC One, the second part of Living With Monkeys: Tales From The Treetops took 2.04m (8.9%) at 9pm. Over on BBC Two, the latest Springwatch had 2.91m (12.6%) at 8pm.
