She taught English as a foreign language in Sri Lanka in the winter of 2003/4. Her links with the country prompted her to help pack aid supplies after the tsunami struck a year later.

Emma's hobbies include rock climbing and scuba diving. She's also a keen photographer.

Attended Grittleton House School and then later St. Laurence School in nearby Bradford on Avon where she began taking acting lessons.

Graduate in Law from Bath College.

Her father Charles Pierson was a Naval officer working on submarines, being stationed at Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde where Emma spent the first four years of her life, and at one point was the Lieutenant Commander on Polaris. Her mother was a nurse.

Has three siblings: Ross, a former snowboarding champion serving in the British Army, James, an animator, and Sara, a teacher, who regularly visits an orphanage in Nepal.
