CBS is looking to reopen Cold Case. A reboot of the crime procedural, which aired for seven seasons from 2003 to 2010, is currently in development at the Eye Network, our sister site Deadline reports.
Fifteen years after the original series ended, this new iteration would follow an entirely different group of detectives dedicated to investigating unsolved crimes. Though additional details are being kept under wraps, one confirmed change from the original series is its setting; the reboot would take place in the Southwest, whereas the original was set in Philadelphia.

Exclusive: After bringing back CSI: Crime Scene Investigation with CSI: Vegas, CBS is looking to revive another Jerry Bruckheimer Television-produced crime procedural from the 2000s. The network is in negotiations with Warner Bros. TV for a reboot of Cold Case, which aired on CBS for seven seasons from 2003-2010, Deadline has learned. The followup comes from the series’ creator/executive producer Meredith Stiehm.
Set 15 years after the original series’ final episode, the untitled Cold Case reboot would follow a new team of tenacious detectives who investigate cold cases across the Southwest.
This is a new location as the original Cold Case was set in Philadelphia. The move would allow the potential new series to introduce a new group of characters as they tackle unsolved homicides.
Steihm is writing the script. She is executive producing with Jbtv’s Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed for Wbtv and CBS Studios. Talks between...

"Take him out! Make a show of it." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for a crime action thriller film titled Red Right Hand, which is not connected with the video game series Red Dead Redemption. The film is now set to open soon in late February, without any festival premieres or any other appearances before. Orlando Bloom stars as Cash, who is trying to live an honest and quiet life, but when the small town crime kingpin "Big Cat" forces him back into her services, he proves capable of anything to protect the town and the only family he has left. Andie MacDowell co-stars as the big boss "Big Cat", which seems like some intriguing casting. Also with Garret Dillahunt, Brian Geraghty, James Lafferty, Jeremy Ratchford, Nicholas Logan, Scott Haze, and Alexandra Park. This looks like another standard gritty Appalachia crime thriller, with plenty of shoot outs and arguments and backcountry rendezvous and more.

"We do this - there is no half way." Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for an indie dark comedy titled Small Town Crime, which played at the SXSW and London Film Festivals. The "small town" crime film stars John Hawkes as an alcoholic ex-cop who finds the body of a young woman and, through an act of self-redemption, becomes hell-bent on finding the killer but unwittingly puts his family in danger and gets caught up with several dark characters along the way. Sounds fun, no? The ensemble cast includes Octavia Spencer, Anthony Anderson, Robert Forster, Clifton Collins, Jr., Michael Vartan, James Lafferty, Daniel Sunjata, Caity Lotz, Jeremy Ratchford, Don Harvey, Stefanie Scott, and Dale Dickey. This looks pretty much exactly as it sounds, but at least it's nice to see Hawkes in another lead role. Here's the first trailer (+ posters) for Eshom Nelms & Ian Nelms's Small Town Crime,...

Every now and again there's that episode of a crime drama where you hate the bad guy so much you get caught up in it. Chicago Pd Season 4 Episode 7 is one of those episodes. We all know who did it, we just want the Cpd Intelligence Unit to prove it so we can enjoy their downfall.
The State's Attorney's Office is sure that its present defendant, who has skated on numerous charges before, just had a witness killed so that he can skate again. It's up to Intelligence - namely a very brassed-off Erin Lindsay - to prove that and make sure Oliver Tuxhorn gets what he so richly deserves.
If you don't, a serial rapist and murderer walks.

Eshom and Ian Nelms’ indie thriller Small Town Crime has completed a casting spree that has locked down the likes of Octavia Spencer and John Hawkes in key roles, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
There, they’ll be joining Anthony Anderson and Robert Forster in the Nelms’ latest feature, which has already entered production.
If the core ensemble wasn’t impressive enough, THR also goes on to reveal that Small Town Crime has attracted quite the supporting cast too, enlisting the likes of Clifton Collins Jr., Michael Vartan, Daniel Sunjata, Don Harvey, James Lafferty, Jeremy Ratchford, Caity Lotz and Dale Dickey.
John Hawkes will be serving as the narrative crux, though, stepping into the well-worn shoes of “an alcoholic ex-cop who finds the body of a young woman and, through an act of self-redemption, becomes hell-bent...

Did you ever look back on something and realize your opinion of it has drastically changed? In the entertainment world, it's not uncommon. Sometimes we just don't have all the pieces; sometimes we get it wrong. In honor of those oversights and flubs, I want to introduce this column - a special series within "Rewind Recaps" dedicated to those shows I want to look back on, but can't retroactively revisit.
And now that I think about it, I really should have stopped referring to CBS' Cold Case (2003-2010) as "that show that aired before The Unit."
Don't ask me why it was never on my radar. I knew that it existed; after all, I was a pretty faithful viewer of The Unit, which meant I sometimes caught the last few minutes of Cold Case. One way or another, I had at least heard of the premise and characters, because when...

LatinoReview is reporting a rumor that Caleb Landry Jones (Friday Night Lights, The Longshots, The Last Exorcism) is Matthew Vaughn's top choice to play Sean Cassidy aka Banshee in X-Men: First Class. Banshee is an Irish mutant named after a legendary ghost from Irish mythology, said to possess a powerful cry. According to wikipedia, he possesses a "sonic scream" capable of causing physical vibrations and harming enemies through sound. In the comic books, Banshee was more than a decade older than most of the X-Men and had a exciting past as an interpol agent and NYPD police officer. The character became a mentor to the Generation X junior Massachusetts Academy X team of the 1990's alongside Emma Frost. So it appear that Singer's storyline mixes the comic book storylines up a bit. Actor Jeremy Ratchford portrayed the character in a 1996 live-action Generation X television movie. Previously: Michael Fassbender of...

After seven years on the beat, the show's over for Detective Lily Rush (Kathryn Morris). CBS has officially cancelled Cold Case.
Each episode of Cold Case begins by showing an unsolved crime from the past. The scene then flashes forward to the present day and a group of homicide detectives try to piece together what really happened, using old evidence and new interviews. The series stars Morris, Danny Pino, John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford, Thom Barry, and Tracie Thoms.
Cold Case began in September of 2003 and quickly became a staple of the CBS Sunday night schedule. The crime drama had a successful first season and, by season two, was averaging a 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 15.1 million viewers. For the next couple seasons, total viewership fell a bit but the all-important demo numbers rose, reaching a 3.8 in season four.
