"We need to contain this." Vega Baby has released an official trailer for the indie sci-fi thriller Encounter, which is being released straight-to-vod at the start of October. This premiered at the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival last year, but hasn't played at any other fests - which is not a good sign. It's about a group of friends who uncover an alien object in a rural field, which they learn holds great secrets. The object attaches itself to one of them, but what is it doing to him? Starring Luke Hemsworth (not to be confused with his brothers Chris and Liam), with Anna Hutchison, Glenn Keogh, Christopher Showerman, Vincent M. Ward, Cheryl Texiera, and Tom Atkins. Looks as bad as it sounds, but maybe it's still a fun B-movie. Here's the full official trailer (+ two posters) for Paul Salamoff's Encounter, direct from YouTube: A group of friends...

Many monsters came to Midian seeking shelter from the hate of humanity. That hate brought death and destruction to the supposedly safe haven in the 1988 novel, Cabal, and its film adaptation, Nightbreed (1990), leaving viewers to wonder what Clive Barker's eclectic cast of characters would do next. On July 28th, Tor Books will release a highly anticipated 300+ page answer (in both hardcover and Kindle) to that question with the Nightbreed sequel anthology, Midian Unmade: Tales of Clive Barker's Nightbreed. Featuring an introduction by Barker and short stories from a wide range of great writers (including David J. Schow, C. Robert Cargill, and Weston Ochse), this Nightbreed collection explores what happened after the last page was turned and the end credits rolled in Barker's brilliant world of the lost and lonely.
Synopsis: "An all-original horror anthology set in the world of Clive Barker's cult film masterpiece, Nightbreed, and including stories by Seanan McGuire,...

Cult sci-fi story Logan's Run has been turned into a feature film, a TV show and several comic book series including one at Marvel.
A new movie has been in the works for several years, and this month it transpired Ryan Gosling was no longer attached to the project.
Now the story - about a dystopian society where populations are controlled by enforced death (at age 21 in the novel, at 30 in the film and series) - is once more returning to the comics world.
Bluewater has today released the final two instalments of its Logan's Run: Aftermath series.
Publisher Darren G. Davis explained the long wait for the conclusion to the saga: "The problem after we left Diamond [Comic Distributors] was re-scheduling all the books - it was not as smooth a transition as we thought it would be. We appreciate all the fans of this series and apologise for any delay.

As announced in Variety, Paul recently sold his script for the supernatural horror project to producers Eric Gitter (Scott Pilgrim vs The World) and Peter Schwerin (Scary Movie 1 & 2) at Chickie The Cop Entertainment.
Salamoff spoke to the Geek Files about his latest works, telling us: "I'm really thrilled about the sale of The Last Breath. This is a project near and dear to me because I've really tried to approach the story in a unique way."
He explained: "I got the inspiration for the story from an article I read in the newspaper years ago about complete strangers in Japan who were meeting over the internet and forming suicide pacts. It was such a horrific idea and certainly lent itself to a supernatural approach.

Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been reunited with predecessors Tom Baker, Paul McGann, William Hartnell and Peter Cushing.
They all feature in a comic book biography comic published by Bluewater Productions as the show approaches its 50th anniversary in 2013. A sneak peek at some of the pages is included here.
Orbit: The Cast of Doctor Who was first released in January and is now back in stores in a new graphic novel format that this time includes a special bonus biography of Peter Cushing. It tells how he came to play the Doctor in two feature films that changed some of the basic concepts and are not usually considered part of canon.
Cushing, however, argued that his depiction of the Time Lord was canon, postulating that it was a future incarnation who had been mindwiped and made to relive some of his earlier adventures. Several other attempts have been...

Earlier this year Warner Brothers revealed that the sequel to its 2010 blockbuster Clash of the Titans - a remake of Ray Harryhausen's 1981 classic - would be called Wrath of the Titans.
However, that name was already trademarked by Washington-based comic book publisher Bluewater Productions.

According to Bluewater, several projects are already in the final stages of development including two motion comics based on the two previously published graphic novels (2008's Wrath of the Titans and 2010's Wrath...

I recently spoke to screenwriter Paul J. Salamoff, who was hired to write the script for the film for a reported mid-six figures. You can read what he had to say here.
The stylish and otherworldly teaser poster is included in full below. Hopefully it really does indicate the potential visual richness and epic scope that the project offers.
The new fantasy film is intended to be the first of a trilogy and an updated sequel to the existing three movies, rather than a reboot.

Back in January we revealed that a new Sinbad movie was in development, with screenwriter Paul J. Salamoff tapped to write the script.
Sinbad: Rogue of Mars will be the first adventure for the legendary sailor in more than three decades and will be an continuation of the franchise rather than a reboot.
I had an exclusive opportunity to ask Salamoff about the project and how he hopes to recapture the charm and magic of the three previous films: The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973) and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (1977).
They are personal favourites and stand out as classics, not just within the Ray Harryhausen stop-motion monster genre, but within fantasy filmmaking as a whole.
During the interview, Salamoff gives updates on the script, whether there have been any discussions regarding a director or casting, and also talks about his own favourite films in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.

The title is published by Bluewater Productions and is based on the 1967 novel by William F Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, set in a dystopian future in which the law decrees death at the age of 21. (In the 1976 movie and spin-off TV series, the age of death was 30).
The story follows Logan, a man charged with tracking down and killing citizens who try to escape society's lethal demand - only to end up running himself.
Paul J. Salamoff has adapted the comic book into a screenplay to be produced by drama company Colonial Radio Theatre On The Air. The audio play will feature a full cast, score and thousands of sound effects.
Also to be adapted is Bluewater's anthology series Vincent Price Presents, featuring some of the horror icon's films as well as new stories developed with his estate.

Once again, the Mystery & Imagination Bookshop in Glendale, CA, was the place to be for genre gold, this time for the launch party and signing for the new horror anthology, The Bleeding Edge. Published by Cycatrix Press, this collection of 19 tales by modern masters of the macabre, edited by Jason V Brock and William F. Nolan, received a lavish send-off by a host of its contributors. The book itself is a handsomely mounted volume, printed in a limited edition of 400 and an extremely limited deluxe signed edition of 75.

A phantom admirer sits in a field with the object of his desires, his affections. He listens to her stories. He feels her anguish and pain, the torment of an artistic soul beaten by an abusive relationship. There is nothing Ethan’s love for Theresa can do to save her from Oscar, Theresa’s no good, abusive, slob of a boyfriend. Like Ethan, you want to yell out to her to get away from this pathetic excuse for a man. Like Ethan’s wordless pleas, she cannot hear you.

I have a love-hate relationship with novels. Though I love reading, often times I feel novels can be long winded and monotonous in some parts. At the same time, movies adapted from novels oftentimes omit a lot and or tweak the story so much that you walk out of the theatre wondering how the heck the film-makers came up with such rubbish when the source material was so good. As for comic-book adaptations they offer a whole different problem all together. Usually limited to a four, five or six issue run, how does one cram a novels worth of story into the limited space provided by a comic book? That was the question I had when reading the first issue of Bluewater Comic’s adaptation of the sci-fi classic Logan’s Run by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson.

Special FX artist, Producer, Writer, Director, Film executive and most recently Comic Book Author, twenty year Industry veteran Paul J. Salamoff could be considered a sort of Renaissance man when it comes to the Hollywood machine. He’s also written the definitive guide to Movie Sets called, On The Set: The Hidden Rules Of Movie Making Etiquette. However, what I found to be the most compelling and sobering fact about Paul is that above all else the man is a true fanboy. Like the rest of us, his work stems from his passion for science fiction, horror and fantasy. It reaches back to his childhood and the countless hours spent watching classic films, reading, and just letting his imagination run wild over the limitless possibilities imbedded in the human psyche. Of all the interviews I’ve done over the years with relative strangers, his was the most easy going and comfortable.

Back in May, Bluewater Productions announced plans to publish a comic book series based on the "Logan's Run," a series of science-fiction novels that unfolded in a dystopian society where population is controlled by euthanizing anyone over the age of 21.
Originally authored by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson in 1967, the first novel spawned several sequels and spin-offs in various forms, including a comic book adaptation, a television series and a 1976 film starring Michael York. (Warner Brothers is currently planning a remake of the film directed by "Tron" director Joe Kosinski.) And in January, the "Logan's Run" universe will also have a comic book sequel, too.

Sexy superheroine the Black Scorpion is returning to guard the streets of Angel City, this time in a new comic book series.
Roger Corman's Black Scorpion is being published by Bluewater Productions in a partnership with the director, who is known mainly for his horror movie output.
The crimefighter previously featured in two made-for-cable movies in 1995 and 1997, both starring Joan Severance, and a 2001 Sci Fi Channel series starring Michelle Lintel.
The new comic book, out in November, will reintroduce and reimagine the scantily-clad vigilante who was created by Corman and producer Craig Nevius.
Nevius said: "Roger and I had always intended to create a comic book franchise based on the Black Scorpion movies and TV series.

It’s no secret that putting U.S. President Barack Obama on the cover of your comic these days is like printing money — no matter how connected the cameo or what the issue contains, it’s going to sell like crazy. So, while comics featuring anyone associated with the president and the 2008 campaign remain hot sellers, it seemed only natural that one particular part of the Obama family receive his own comic. (And to be honest, I’m surprised it took this long.)
