The latest phenomenon of sporting stars granting intimate access to documentary makers in exchange for positive coverage – The Last Dance and Drive to Survive on Netflix, Welcome to Wrexham on Prime Video – has found plenty of fans on the streaming platforms, but others are raising their eyebrows at what they claim is a cynically manipulated narrative to make the star look only good.

The UK’s Sunday Times has focused its investigative lens on the recent four-hour Netflix documentary series Beckham, recounting the rollercoaster career of footballing superstar David Beckham, and found six examples of what it claims is a case of re-writing history to make sure Beckham’s halo remains intact.

World Cup match 1998 – In the doc, after Beckham is given a red card and sent off the pitch for fouling an Argentine player, the story goes that he suffered hostility even from his own Man Utd...

The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.

Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2022, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv last week from the London Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £15,673,728 so far for Unicef’s vital work giving children around the world the care-free, play filled childhoods they are entitled to.

This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and The Power of Nutrition who have matched donations up to £4 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed last year’s record total for money raised on the night.

The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out London Stadium with 54,410 fans in attendance, 10 years on from the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Tottenham Hotspur are something of an enigma in the English game. Renowned for playing attractive football, there always seems to be a flaw holding them back from going on to achieve bigger and better things.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have announced that their young striker, Harry Kane, has signed a new five year contract at White Hart Lane.

A statement on the club website read:

We are delighted to announce that Harry Kane has signed a new contract, committing his future to the Club until 2019.

The young striker, 21, made his First Team breakthrough in the second half of last season, scoring in three successive Premier League matches in April.

A product of our Academy system, Harry, born locally in Walthamstow, signed professional terms in 2010 and made his First Team debut aged just 18 in our Europa League play-off against Hearts in August, 2011.

He enjoyed loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City before his first full season in the First Team squad last term, when he made 19 appearances in all competitions.

Are you simply nuts about football? Then you should be mates with micro-artist Quentin Devine.

Devine has painstakingly carved portraits of five England footy greats into Brazil nuts in time for this summer's 2014 World Cup in Rio. Why? Well, just because he can.

The artist went through over 50 nuts, each measuring 1.5 by 2cm, averaging 96 hours.

David Beckham, Gary Lineker, Wayne Rooney, Paul Gascoigne and Alan Shearer are given their own nutty equivalents. Though, Gary may only be interested in the crisp variety.

Former England soccer star Teddy Sheringham is adamant he did not intend to injure celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay during a charity match on Sunday, insisting he mistimed his challenge.

Hell's Kitchen star Ramsay was given oxygen on the pitch and was taken to hospital with an agonising back injury after Sheringham clattered him from behind during the star-studded Soccer Aid event in Manchester, England.

Sheringham's full-blooded tackle attracted a swathe of abusive messages on Twitter.com, and the ex-sportsman took to his own page on the microblogging website on Monday to explain the incident.

He writes, "Never set out to hurt rammer (Ramsay) but football is (a) contact sport these things happen. Just got my timing wrong! Am in my mid 40s you know!"

The biennial event, in which international celebrities including Will Ferrell, Mike Myers and Edward Norton took on a team of British stars in a challenge match, raised more than $6.4 million (£4 million) for Unicef.

Gordon Ramsay has assured fans he's "fine" after he was treated in hospital for an agonising back injury he picked up during Soccer Aid 2012 in England on Sunday.

The celebrity chef was taking part in the star-studded charity game in Manchester when he was tackled to the ground by former England international Teddy Sheringham.

Medics rushed on to the field to deliver oxygen to the stricken star before taking Ramsay away on a stretcher and transporting him to a nearby hospital. He was discharged in the early hours of Monday.

A representative for the Hell's Kitchen star says, "Gordon was taken to hospital after injuring his back during the game. He was released after receiving treatment and although he's in pain today, there shouldn't be any long term damage. He would like to thank the medical team at the ground and the hospital for the excellent care he received."

Ramsay also took to his Twitter.com page on Monday to give an update on his condition, writing, "Thx 4 (thanks for) all the messages. Out of hospital after receiving amazing care from medics at ground & hospital. Bit sore but fine."

The TV cook wasn't the only star competitor left battered and bruised in the match - funnyman Will Ferrell hurt his leg late in the second half.

Robbie Williams's Unicef TV charity event Soccer Aid will return on Sunday, May 27, it has been confirmed. Hollywood star Michael Sheen, Marvin Humes and Aston Merrygold from Jls, Gordon Ramsay, DJ Jamie Theakston and footballers Teddy Sheringham and Edwin van der Sar are the first stars to sign up to join Williams's project. The 2010 series of Soccer Aid ended with a victory for Michael Sheen's Rest of the World team over Robbie Williams's England, following a nail-biting penalty shoot-out, which concluded with Woody Harrelson scoring the winning spot kick. Ex-Celebrity Big Brother contestant Danielle Lloyd has had a baby boy. She and fiancé Jamie O’Hara have named the baby Archie.

He was born at 2am on Sunday in the Portland Hospital in London, and both mum and baby are said to be doing well.

Danielle told the Pa, “He is absolutely perfect, Jamie and I are thrilled.

“We can’t wait to get him home.”

Archie may well be meeting some new playmates soon in the form of Katie Price’s three children. Danielle expressed a wish a few weeks ago for her son and Katie’s children to be friends.

Danielle, who’s a close friend of Katie’s said, “It’ll be fun to see all the kids grow up together.

“If Jordan has another baby soon, my little one would have the perfect playmate!”

The glamour model and her Portsmouth midfielder fiancé Jamie O’Hara are looking forward to her due date this summer.
