Plamen Lyubomirov Somov was born in Sofia on June 12, 1948. He graduated from Film and Television cinematography at National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofa, Bulgaria in 1980. He has daughter Dora and son Lyubomir. Plamen Somov worked at Boyana Film Studios as electrician from 1969. Then he became an assistant operator and camera operator in the films of Radoslav Spassov. His debut as a cinematographer was the movie "Love of Miron", directed by Plamen Maslarov. The he was a cinematographer of the movies "Destiny", directed by Nikola Korabov, "Green Fields" and "Judge", directed by Plamen Maslarov, "AkaDaMus", directed by Georgi Djulgerov, "Mayor, Mayor", directed by Plamen Maslarov, "O, Lord, where are you?", directed by Krasimir Spassov, "All together" directed by Ivan Rosenov. He shoot also many documentaries. He worked as camera operator in many films, shooting at New Boyana Film Studios. He was awarded with "Golden Eye" Prize for Best Cinematography of the film "Destiny". His hobby is riding.
