Jim Sotet was born in Buffalo, New York in the mid 1940's. After
graduating high school he moved to Sands Creek, NY. Jim met his wife,
Danielle, while working at a local radio station and both of them moved
to Fredonia, NY where he found work at another radio station. They were
married on April 12, 1969 and then moved back to Buffalo, NY in the
early 1970's where Jim worked at yet another radio station. Later, onto
Rochester, NY, Detroit, MI and then Chicago, IL where he worked for
Mercury Records and also continued his radio career.
Jim and Danielle moved to High Falls, NY after a few years and lived in a Dutch Reform Church. Soon they realized they had not yet found home and got out a map of New York. They found Delaware County and the small town (hamlet) of Hancock on the map and decided to do some research. They were hooked. Kelsey became the home they were looking for. They both enjoyed thirteen wonderful years together there before Danielle passed after a long battle with brain cancer.
Jim has also done some consulting on a couple of movies. Night on Earth and Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai. While head of album promotions at Mercury he worked with a number of bands and artists such as The Scorpions, Rainbow, Rush, The Jam, Willie Nelson, Yoko Ono, Frank Zappa and Rush.
Danielle also did accounting for many famous names. She has worked with Robert Altman, Jim Jarmusch & John Sayles. Some of the films she has worked on were: Dead Man, Ready to Wear, Kansas City, Night On Earth, Lone Star, to name a few.
Jim does not drive because of his eyes and has settled in taking care of his dogs, the farm, which he has now been at for over 24 years, and his garden. He is active within his local community and still dabbles with his music and contributes to some of Jim Jarmusch's projects.
