Veteran episodic director Tim Southam (One Piece) has joined Season 3 of Foundation, the Apple TV+ series from Skydance TV. He will be taking over directing duties from series writer/executive producer David S. Goyer.
As Deadline reported, this is one of changes implemented by the series as part of efforts to bring the budget levels down, which led to a delay in the Season 3 restart of production.
Southam will complete Episodes 301-303, which Goyer had started. Approximately 80% of 301 is in the can; the other two episodes are approximately 50% half finished.
Filming is slated to begin March 6 in the Czech Republic capital Prague and four Polish cities, the capital Warsaw as well as Kraków, Lublin and Katowice.
Goyer will continue to write and executive produce from Los Angeles.

Netflix’s “Locke and Key” will end after its upcoming third season, Variety has confirmed.
Based on the comic books of the same name, “Locke and Key” follows the three Locke children who, following their father’s death, move from Seattle to his family home in Massachusetts. They soon discover magical keys hidden throughout the house — appropriately called Keyhouse — that can be used to unlock secret doors. However, a demonic presence is in search of the keys as well. Season 3 of the fantasy horror series is set to release on the streamer this year.
Co-showrunners and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said in a statement: “Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion. As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell...

When Daily Dead took part in a Locke & Key roundtable call earlier this year, co-showrunner (along with Carlton Cuse) Meredith Averill said that they have "...stories for a few seasons to come percolating in our brains...", and it looks like that statement is becoming a reality, because not only was the show renewed for a second season back in March, it's now been renewed for a third season by Netflix before the second season has even premiered.
Multiple outlets are reporting the renewal news, including The Hollywood Reporter, along with the announcement that Meredith Averill has signed a deal with Netflix for "TV and other projects."
Here's what co-showrunner Cuse had to say about the season 3 renewal (via THR):
"We have some incredible adventures in store for the Locke family in season 3, and could not be more excited to continue telling our story with our great partners at Netflix.

When Daily Dead took part in a Locke & Key roundtable call earlier this year, co-showrunner (along with Carlton Cuse) Meredith Averill said that they have "...stories for a few seasons to come percolating in our brains...", and now one of those future seasons has become a reality, as Netflix has officially renewed the adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez's beloved Idw graphic novels for a second season.
The renewal news was announced on Locke & Key's official Twitter account (see below). A premiere date and episode count for the second season (the first season consists of 10 episodes) have yet to be revealed, and we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are announced.
In the meantime, check out highlights from the "Inside Keyhouse" press event and Sara Clements' review of the first season, and in case you missed it, Castlevania was recently renewed for a fourth season by Netflix.

Netflix’s long awaited adaptation of Joe Hill’s graphic novels Locke & Key is a magical, coming-of-age horror that’s an absolute joy.
This Locke & Key review contains no spoilers and comes from Den of Geek UK.
The Locke family returns to ancestral home Keyhouse, where they discover multiple magical keys and locks, in Locke & Key. Slightly on the nose puns aside and Netflix latest bingeable series is a dark delight. Based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez comic book it’s a mix of magical fantasy, cosmic horror and high-school drama with a great mystery plot at the centre. Beautiful to look at, with characters it’s easy to root for, this ten part series of 50-odd minute episode is highly addictive - don’t wolf it down too quickly, you’ll only miss it when it’s gone.

Netflix dropped the trailer for “Locke & Key” on Wednesday morning, which is the first look at the streaming service’s long-awaited TV adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’ best-selling Idw comic book series about the Locke family and their magical home.
In the trailer, which you can view via the video above and this link, we see the Lockes — mother Nina (Darby Stanchfield) and her children, Bode (Jackson Robert Scott), Tyler (Connor Jessup) and Kinsey (Emilia Jones) — move into Keyhouse, their ancestral home, following the mysterious murder of their father, Rendell (Bill Heck).
It’s not long before the siblings discover the house is filled with magical keys, each with different powers, that could somehow be connected to their dad’s death. That would be cool and all except they also find out that, as Tyler puts it, a “crazy evil” demon is trying to steal them.

Netflix is leaning into its strengths in 2020. Not only is the streaming giant pumping out dozens, if not hundreds of new shows, but many of their original series meet the demand illustrated by past successes or fill holes left by departing favorites.
So is there a new “Stranger Things” on the horizon? Perhaps a worthy follow-up to “Orange Is the New Black?” What about a replacement for syndicated sitcoms like “The Office” and “Friends”? You better believe Netflix is working to give subscribers what they want, and the below 2020 preview should illustrate exactly that.
With more competition than ever from Disney and Apple, and even more services on the way (hello HBO Max and Peacock), 2020 will be a critical year for the current king of streaming. So here’s what they’re working with:

Actra, the Canadian actors union, and the Directors Guild of Canada are launching a helpline “to support members when reporting incidents of harassment.”
“We owe it to the courageous individuals who’ve exposed the truth about harassment and misconduct in our industry to have their backs,” said Dgc president Tim Southam.
Notably, the joint press release issued by the two unions doesn’t identify sexual harassment as the problem they seek to address, referring to it obliquely instead.

That cultural shift came about after a wave of sexual harassment claims surfaced in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal that broke on October 5, 2017.

'Moose TV' breaking new ground
TORONTO -- Adam Beach (Windtalkers) and Nathaniel Arcand (Da Vinci's City Hall) on Wednesday joined the cast of Moose TV, Canada's first sitcom produced entirely by native Canadians. Shooting in and around Montreal has begun on eight half-hours of Moose TV, which is slated to air on Showcase Television in early 2007. Tim Southam is directing the all-native cast in a sitcom set in a fictional town in northern Quebec where a young man, played by Beach, returns from the big city and revives an abandoned local TV studio with his childhood pal, played by Arcand.
