To quote Space Ghost himself, "I'll be dead long before you were born, and I'll be dead long before you'll be dead."
In 1994, producer Mike Lazzo donned a pith helmet, filled his arms with machetes, and trekked into the darkest corners of the bleak, terrifying Hanna-Barbera cartoon library. In the depths, he re-discovered a long-forgotten, one-season animated series from 1966 called "Space Ghost," a superhero show about a white-clad, cape-wearing starship captain who fought bud-like villains in the inky void of the cosmos. Space Ghost, voiced by Gary Owens, could pass through walls and oversaw a pair of sidekicks named Jan (Ginny Tyler) and Jace (Tim Matheson) as well as a chimp named Blip (Don Messick).
Like most of Hanna-Barbera's output, "Space Ghost" was strange and awful. 20 years later, reruns of shows like "Space Ghost" were increasingly enjoyed exclusively by college students under the influence of potent smokables. One would be...

Debating which Disney animated film reigns supreme as the greatest of all time is a fool's errand, but if I was given a vote, I'd throw some love toward "A Goofy Movie." While it's not about a singing princess making her dreams come true or "Hamlet" but with lions, "A Goofy Movie" is a silly, heartwarming road-trip movie about generational differences and coming-of-age in a single-parent household. As a youngster, I very much saw myself in Max Goof (Jason Marsden), a rebellious teen constantly embarrassed by his well-meaning father and hiding his adolescent insecurity by performing. I distinctly remember sharing the second-hand embarrassment during the pair's excursion to Lester's Possum Park, imagining how I too would cringe out of my skin if my parents were that excited about broken, animatronic nightmare possums.
As I grew older, my perspective shifted. Re-watching "A Goofy Movie" as an adult, I couldn't help myself from immediately siding with Goofy.

Judy Tenuta, the comedian and musician also known by her onstage persona “The Love Goddess,” passed away at the age of 72. She reportedly died from ovarian cancer according to her publicist Roger Neal. She was surrounded by family and loved ones in her Los Angeles home when she passed on Thursday afternoon.
Tenuta had a wholly unique act blending brash insult comedy inspired by the Borscht Belt greats as well as vaudeville acts, and had some incredible joke writing skills to back it all up. Early on in her career she began incorporating an accordion in the act as well, which gave her performance an even more surreal quality.

Hollywood is taking to Twitter to pay their respects to beloved sitcom actor Gavin MacLeod, who passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 90.
MacLeod’s roles as Murray Slaughter on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Captain Merrill Stubing on “The Love Boat” rendered him a mainstay of 1970s and ’80s television, as well as a source of both comedy and comfort for countless viewers.
See how some of MacLeod’s costars, friends and fans are honoring the late TV legend.
Ed Asner, who starred opposite MacLeod on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” described the actor as “my brother, my partner in crime (and food) and my comic conspirator.” He also assured MacLeod that he’d see him and the rest of “the gang” in a bit. Asner and Betty White are the classic sitcom’s only living cast members.
Actor Michael McKean replied to Asner’s tweet with his own condolences.

We are premiering the poster and trailer for the very indie action comedy movie Garlic & Gunpowder. Harrison Smith's (Camp Dread and Zombie Killers: Elephants Graveyard) small budget action comedy was picked up for distribution by Global Digital Releasing. This particular film has many stars of old in it. There is Michael Madsen and Vivica A. Fox right there. Also, they do not point him out specifically but Martin 'Sweep the leg' Kove is also in this. That is worth the price of admission alone, right? Global Digital Releasing has acquired worldwide rights to the slapstick Action-Comedy Garlic And Gunpowder starring Steven Chase, James Duvall, Lainie Kazan, Judy Tenuta, Martin Kove, Dean McDermott, Felissa Rose, Vivica A. Fox and Michael Madsen. The film...

Al Yankovic can be described in a lot of ways besides "Weird." Most people know that he's a chart-topping singer-songwriter, a director-producer, a top-notch parodist, an author and a die-hard polka enthusiast. Even those who have followed his career closely, however, may have forgotten he was, for a brief moment, the host of a short-lived children's television show.
The Weird Al Show debuted on CBS on September 13, 1997 as part of their Saturday morning lineup. Each episode began with the all important "today's lesson" before viewers were invited into Yankovic's underground...

When Community showrunner Dan Harmon was axed from his metasitcom in 2012, it was the result of a showbiz shit-storm triggered at his oddball variety show "Harmontown." One night, in the black-box backroom of the Hollywood geek headquarters Meltdown Comics, Harmon shared voicemails in which Chevy Chase called him an "asshole, alcoholic fat shit" and invited him to "suck my cock." He was kicked off Community after three seasons, forced to watch it rebooted with replacement directors. (He'd eventually be rehired back in June 2013, in time to head up the show's fifth season.

Sometimes things come across our desks that make us collectively scratch our heads. This is just such a moment. You may want to check out this first look at the upcoming indie flick Doctor Spine if only for the cast.
It's written and directed by John Wesley Norton and stars Michael Wexler, Larry Thomas, Joe Estevez, Reggie Bannister, Judy Tenuta, Tiffany Shepis, Lisa Loring, Kathy Garver, Xango Henry, and many other fine actors!
Doctor Spine is a comic-book-styled horror hybrid film. Sometimes the past is best left forgotten. Meet Doctor Spine, a meek chiropractor with a very dark past that comes back to haunt him. Watch as a life spent helping other spirals downward into a miasma of madness. Experience the horror, the exhilaration, the simple joy of seeing a mild mannered health professional go wacko!
Check out the ludicrous artwork and the trailer below. Then you, too, can sit...

I'll get this out of the way up front: I'm not much of a fan of romances of any sexual orientation. But I am a fan of cultural curiosities, so sitting through two new polar-opposite romances in a single week provided its own brand of overwrought appeal. While the diverting (though a bit overearnest) Zac Efron vehicle/longform Hgh infomercial The Lucky One is poised to invade the hearts of millions this weekend, another romance of a very different breed opens in limited release in New York City (with a run in La to follow in May).

Reservoir Dogs was the first independent film I ever saw, and I remember being completely blown away by it. I think I was around 15 years old when I watched the movie on VHS. I watched it over at a friend's house, and we couldn't believe what we were seeing. I loved this film, and to this day, I still enjoy watching it. The film was released in 1992, and it took movies to a new level. The movie was not only incredibly cool, but at the time it seemed to break the rules of conventional storytelling.
This tribute includes footage for the film and interviews with people such as Scott Aukerman, Q. Allan Brocka, Edward Bunker, Kevin Eastman, F.X. It’s difficult to pinpoint one woman who’s been able to come head to head with Weird Al Yankovic in the world of mainstream musical satire outside of Judy Tenuta (very good sentence, Eliot). But now, with the Delorean set to 1985, we can witness former talk show host Jenny Jones performing a stand-up comedy routine in which she sends up Gloria Gaynor‘s “I Will Survive” with joke-words about dating in the eighties (Score)! It’s basically a mix of two things that rule: Nora Dunn and Jan Hooks as the Sweeney Sisters and Horowitz & Spector of NYC cable access stalwart Stairway To Stardom. Jenny Jones, we hardly knew ye!

Konnichwa, bitches. Gariana Abeyta and Grae Drake, the fine ladies of the Popcorn Mafia podcast that's been airing once weekly for the past two years, celebrated their achievement with a live broadcast from the New Beverly Cinema last night. As customary, it was a raucous affair and a good time was had by all. Diablo Cody, all preggo with her own eggo, joined the festivities as the two ladies resurrected the '80s, laying down commentary on Zapped and Wall Street with their customary aplomb. And by that, I mean five minutes into the show, decked out like the Jersey Twat still Eyetalian Material Girl, Gariana shook out her tutu-like skirt and grunted, "This is why people in the '80s died from AIDS. Wearing shit like this. There's nowhere to put condoms."
The show was a cavalcade of insanity, as to be expected. It opened with a short film called Juno's Body,...
