Dorotea Toncheva

Dorotea Toncheva is a Bulgarian actress. She was born on August 15, 1946 in Spasovo , region Dobrich, Bulgaria, but when she was a little child her family has moved to Ruse . Her grandmother was involved in amateur theater and took her everywhere with her. That is the reason for the little Dorothea to fall in love with the theater for all her life. She graduated in "acting" in National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in the class of Professor Krusty Mirsky in 1969. As a student she was invited in the movie " Dear Almonds " (1967), starring with Stefan Danailov , Nevena Kokanova and Georgi Georgiev-Getz . She has worked in Kyustendil Drama Theatere , Theater "Sofia" and Satire Theater . She played in more than 30 Bulgarian movies. She was honored twice with the Best Actress Prize at the National Film Festival "Golden Rose", with the Order "Cyril and Methodius" , and in 1980 she was awarded with the title of Honored Artist . From 1997 to 2007 she was Chief Manager of Theater "Sofia". Her husband is great Bulgarian poet and writer Stefan Tsanev. They have four children and three grandchildren.
