His half brother Francisco Casine was a designer for Pierre Cardin and graduate from Fashion Institute of Technology; he was a classmate of Calvin Klein. Francisco died in 1985 if AIDS.

Ermelinda Vazquez (Alberto's mother) was a PTA (Parent Teachers Association) administrator in Spanish Harlem in the middle sixties. Robert F. Kennedy came personally one day to give opera tickets to the women of that group and Alberto met him that day.

Alberto Vazquez's grandfather (Jacinto Arroyo) was in elementary school classes with the Nationalist leader from Ponce, Puerto Rico Don Pedro Albizu Campos. He was a Harvard graduate and tried to liberate Puerto Rico from American rule in the 1940's.

Alberto Vazquez was recently accepted (May 2021) to The Actors Studio (PDU) Playwright - Directors Unit as a playwright with the play / Ellie, Mom and Me set for production in 2022 in NYC.

Accepted into the Actors Studio's PDU Unit (Playwright-Directors-Unit) May 2021 as a lifetime member with his first play, Ellie, Mom and Me.
