Thinking about it, how does one guy envision such great games such as Metal Gear or Zone of the Enders, while at the same time carrying an entire company on his shoulders? Hideo Kojima, owner of Kojima Productions, has been doing just that for Konami for decades now. The creator of one of the most iconic franchises in gaming has even stepped up to have a big role in the publisher side of things. He helps not only operate Kojima Productions, but Konami itself. Seems logical, through one of your leading men into bigger shoes. Yet how does he do it?

Idw has announced in a new press release that they are currently planning on developing several television series based on their current comic book titles. To accomplish this, Idw has formed Idw Entertainment, an in-house television division that will soon begin work on developing shows based on “Life Undead”, “Brooklyn Animal Control”, and “V Wars” with additional projects on the way. The newly founded division will be headed up by David Ozer, the executive producer on AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, who will oversee the adaptation of Idw titles into future TV shows.
“Life Undead” will follow a New Orleans detective after he finds himself immersed in a supernatural world; “Brooklyn Animal Control” will follow the exploits of a special division of the NYPD that regulates a small community of werewolves in the big city, and “V Wars” will tell the story of the first Vampire War fought by humanity.

A Bigfoot found footage film is pretty much as natural as that genre gets, and it looks like we may have a good one, in The Lost Coast Tapes. The film comes out this year, and we have two trailers, along with a couple posters and promo’s from the movie, all of which look sweet (all from Dread Central).
Corey Grant (Dysfunctional Friends) directs the film that stars Drew Rausch, Rich McDonald, Ashley Wood, Noah Weisberg, and Frank Ashmore. It was written by Brian Kelsey and Bryan O’Cain and produced by New Breed Entertainment’s Corey Grant, Chevez Frazier, and Chris Beal.

First announced at Afm back in November comes from New Breed Entertainment and director Corey Grant, The Lost Coast Tapes, starring Drew Rausch, Ashley Wood, Rich McDonald, Frank Ashmore and Noah Weisberg. "A cynical investigative journalist and his documentary team travel to a remote cabin to debunk a Cryptozoologist's claim of finding a dead Bigfoot, but their film quickly becomes a record of their life and battle against an unseen horror." The first piece of art was pretty impressive, reminding me of the one sheet for Frozen and Open Water. A second has just debuted. Keep up with the film on Facebook.

When Paranormal Activity 3 scares up nearly $54 million at the box office in a weekend, you know that the found footage phenomenon is not dying soon. A new Pov horror-thriller called The Lost Coast Tapes is currently being sold to distributors at American Film Market next week. The story follows "an investigative journalist and his group that travel to Northern California to find the legendary Sasquatch, but the footage of that trip is now all that remains." The film was directed by Corey Grant, with production already wrapped on the film. Check out the full poster below:
Here are some more details according to IMDb:
After a "Bigfoot Hunter" claims to possess the body of a dead Sasquatch, a disgraced investigative journalist stakes his comeback -- and the lives of his documentary film crew -- on proving the find to be a hoax. Obviously shit goes down once they actually find the creature.

One title we missed that is making its American Film Market debut is Corey Grant's The Lost Coast Tapes , a found footage film playing on the Bigfoot legend. Set against the backdrop of Northern California, the film documents the found footage of a skeptical journalist who aims to prove there is no such thing as Bigfoot after someone reports they have the body of a dead Sasquatch. Drew Rausch, Ashley Wood, Rich McDonald, Frank Ashmore and Noah Weisberg star. Poster art below... Bigfoot is making a resurgence; the beast will be seen in an upcoming 3D Chinese film and Blair Witch co-helmer Eduardo Sanchez is aiming to make a new film . Visit the film's Facebook page for more.

Cinéma vérité style filmmaking and Bigfoot should go together like peanut butter and jelly! Ash and the evil dead! Jason and naked teens! It's really a wonder that anyone has yet to make an effective film focusing on the legend of the Sasquatch using this technique, but if the first poster for The Lost Coast Tapes is any indication of what's to come, one may well be on its way.

We may not know much about what the current unrest in the Middle East will mean for everyone today but we all know that eventually, our end as a species will come at the hand of robots and the advancement of artificial life or at the rotting flesh of zombies. It’s a known fact. Seriously though, we just can’t get enough robots and zombies. Look at how quickly The Walking Dead caught mainstream TV viewers by surprise, and Michael Bay can’t let that money-making juggernaut of a franchise, The Transformers go. Now there’s a chance we could see both genres hit the big screen together.
Back in 2006, writer and Idw Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall and painter Ashley Wood came up with a two-issue comic story, Zombies vs Robots where the last remaining human, a young infant girl, fends off hordes of zombies with an impressive array of robots.

Michael Bay, the man who gave us Tranformers 2’s jive-talking robots, will be co-producing a big-screen adaptation of the Idw comic Zombies vs. Robots with his production company/horror-remake machine Platinum Dunes—and he’s starting, at least, with a script by a solid genre talent.
Deadline reports that The Burrowers’ J.T. Petty wrote a spec screenplay titled Inherit The Earth based on the Ashley Wood/Chris Ryall comic. The film will be a co-production between Platinum Dunes, Circle of Confusion and Idw for Sony Pictures, and produced by Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs. The movie focuses on the last survivor on Earth, a young girl who is protected by a group of robots from a pack of zombies that are intelligent and evolved.

Aspiring screenwriters, take note. To sell a spec script in Hollywood nowadays, you need only follow this simple three-step formula: 1. Base the story on an existing comic book 2. Come up with a catchy and/or ironic title 3. Add zombies It really is that simple. Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company is currently setting up a project called Zombies vs. Robots, based on an Idw comic by Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall. It may sound like it could be a sequel to Jon Favreau's upcoming Cowboys vs. Aliens, but the two are apparently unrelated. Sony Pictures has picked up the distribution rights after a bidding war with multiple studios. Hey, at least it's not another board game movie, right? The plot revolves around a young girl who is the last survivor on earth. A group of robots must protect her from roving zombies that are "intelligent and evolved." What remains...

When I was a kid, I had two films I always wanted to see. One was Cowboys fighting Aliens, we are getting that now (Cowboys & Aliens). The other was zombies versus robots. We are now getting that one, too. Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes will now develop the Idw Publishing comic book, Zombies vs. Robots, for a feature adaptation with Sony Pictures. It is said that screenwriter J.T. Petty used the comic book as the basis for his spec script Inherit the Earth, which was also included in the package deal for Platinum Dunes and Sony.
The story revolves around a young girl who is the last human left on Earth after a worldwide zombie outbreak. She is protected by a group of robots from the fierce zombies, who are more intelligent than zombies we’ve seen in the past. Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood created the comic book series.

Mash-ups, ya’ll – they’re the new black! On the heels of the Super Bowl trailer for Jon Favreau’s highly-anticipated "Cowboys & Aliens" comes news of yet another head-to-head Hollywood battle: "Zombies vs. Robots!"
Action master Michael Bay is attached to produce, and the script is based on the comic of the same name, created by Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall. Word is that the plot focuses on the last human on earth – a little girl – who is protected from evolved and ruthless zombies by a group of robots. Sounds a bit like “I Am Legend” to us — maybe Bay will nab Willow Smith for the lead role?

There’s sure to be more news on this budding project as it progresses, but let’s get straight to the point: with "Cowboys & Aliens" and "Zombies vs. Robots" in the can — not to mention the even more ridiculously titled "Mega Shark vs.

After finishing their comic book series for Idw Publishing, writer Chris Ryall went ahead and wrote a spec script based on his and artist Ashley Wood's property, Zombies vs. Robots. I think you can figure out what the story is about from the title, right?
Set in the future, ZvsR is about the last surviving little girl and how she is protected from the flesh-eating undead by a troop of robots. It sounds like a high concept, no blood kind of premise.
The spec was represented by Circle of Confusion, a Hollywood management company. A partnership came when Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes wanted to be involved with the project, and together the two approached Sony Pictures. Just like one of the nameless undead that the comic shows, the studio bit and acquired the Zombies vs. Robots spec.

Comic book adaptations are becoming increasingly popular around Hollywood since the success of movies like Batman Begins and Iron Man, and zombie movies are also gaining in popularity with the success of movies like Zombieland and TV shows like AMC's The Walking Dead. One of the more recent trends is the blending of genres, such as the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Zombies vs. Robots is a triple threat, and screenwriter J.T. Petty (The Burrowers) recognized it.
Deadline reports that Sony Pictures has acquired Petty's spec script titled Inherit the Earth, which was adapted from the Idw Publishing comic book Zombies vs. Robots created by writer Chris Ryall and artist Ashley Wood. The story is set in a bleak world where a zombie outbreak has overtaken humanity, leaving one young girl as the sole human survivor who is protected from the hordes by robots.

Zombies may not be making rapid gains on the overwhelming popularity of vampires these days, but the geek nation has certainly embraced a rising trend in stories about the shambling brain-munchers. Now Michael Bay is boarding that train, entering into a co-production deal with Idw Publishing to develop a film adaptation of the publisher's "Zombies Vs. Robots" comic book series.
The series is set in a world devastated by the zombie apocalypse. The last surviving human is an infant, one who is fortunately protected by an army of robots.
So really, what you're looking at is the setup for an epic confrontation between an entire planet's worth of zombies and a bunch of cold, emotionless robots. Does anyone really win here? We certainly do, since we'll get to watch the two factions clash from the safety of a movie theater.

Sony Pictures has purchased screen rights to the 2007 Idw comic book series "Zombies Vs Robots" for a film adaptation by producer Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes.
The "Zvr" comic book series was created by writer Chris Ryall and illustrated by Ashley Wood:
"...Scientists 'Throckmorton', 'Winterbottom' and 'Satterfield' create a portal for time travel, but a test of the portal's capabilities returns one of the scientists back as a dead heap. Sentient robots are then designed and used to exploit time travel, but the robots inadvertently bring back a zombie plague.
"With the human race eventually decimated, it is the sentient robots that are all that are standing between the future survival of mankind (which hinges on keeping a baby girl alive) and a seething mass of undead. The robots protect the baby until such time as they can clone the child, thus ensuring mankind's continuation..."

Hollywood has finally gotten around to combining two time-tested institutions, zombie movies and robot movies. It’s about time, guys. The friendly folks over at Sony Pictures have acquired the rights to “Zombies Vs. Robots”, the Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall created comic book. The adaptation will be produced through Michael Bay’s company, Platinum Dunes. J.T. Petty, who directed “The Burrowers” in 2008, is on tap to write the script, currently titled “Inherit the Earth”. There’s no word on a director, but it isn’t a huge stretch of the imagination to picture Petty in the big chair. Here’s the synopsis of “Zombies Vs. Robots” from Amazon: A post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies has only one chance at recovery—a team of robots that must protect and clone a lone surviving human baby. They just need to do this amidst the endless hordes of zombies who have been...

In a press release sent out today, it was announced that Sony Pictures has acquired the movie rights to the Idw Publishing comic book series, Zombies vs. Robots.
The comic, written and created by Chris Ryall with Ashley Wood handling artwork, tells the story of robots who fight off waves of hungry zombies as they try and protect the last surviving human.
Michael Bay, along with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form and their Platinum Dunes Productions will produce Zombies vs. Robots in a collaboration with Idw and Circle of Confusion, with Sony handling distribution.
Synopsis In the Zombies Vs Robots comic series, the last remaining human in the world is protected by an assortment of robots against overwhelming zombie hordes. When the robots mistakenly expose the human infant’s presence to the zombies, it leads to an all-out battle for the survival of mankind. The series takes a playful look at a far-fetched concept,...

Are horror comic adaptations the Next Big Thing? In the wake of The Walking Dead's success, it certainly seems so; what with Locke and Key, Cowboys & Aliens, Sandman, and Preacher all set to hit screens large and small in the months ahead. Now we can add another title to the list -- Idw's Zombies Vs. Robots. Love 'em or hate 'em, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company (which still has a remake of Monster Squad in the pipeline) are the folks in charge. But take heart in the fact that the thinking-man's horror hound, J.T. Petty (The Burrowers) is handling the adapting chores. More after the jump. Deadline reports that Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood's fan-favorite...

Sony Pictures has acquired the rights to the Idw Publishing comic book Zombies vs. Robots, in which the last human survivor of a walking-unded apocalypse is defended by a metallic army. So much for Platinum Dunes taking a break from the genre! Word of another new project from the team of Brad Fuller and Andrew Form has broken online, and the good news is that it's not a remake or a sequel.
According to Deadline Hollywood's fixation with robots and the undead has fueled a spec package deal that includes underlying rights to Idw's Zombies vs. Robots.
Jt Petty has used the Ashley Wood/Chris Ryall-created comic as the basis for a spec script called Inherit the Earth. Not clear yet whether that will be the title or not, but we'll keep an eye on things.

Isn’t that a catchy idea? Michael Bay, Jt Petty and Sony think so, since they’re producing, writing, and releasing Zombies vs. Robots, a spec idea that’s being developed as a comic by Idw Publishing. The screenplay by Petty (The Burrowers) is based on the comic’s authors (Ashley Wood/Chris Ryall) idea of um, zombies fighting robots. With Platinum Dunes and Sony Pictures behind this, I doubt if this will be crappy, but it could go either way, depending on the tone.
Actually, scratch that: this should be Awesome. he film focuses on a young girl who is the last survivor on earth. She is protected by a group of robots from a pack of zombies that are intelligent and evolved.

Sony and Platinum Dunes are set to team up in bringing the Idw series "Zombies Vs. Robots" to the bigscreen, and all over the world, aspiring screenwriters commit suicide out of pure existential fear that there is no reason to even try anymore. I like Jt Petty, who evidently turned the Idw comic into a spec script called "Inherit The Earth," and I think he's an underrated screenwriter. And Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood actually did create something pretty cool with the original series. It's lean and mean as a book, focused on a sort of philosophical war between three mad...

We all know how much Michael Bay loves him some robot action. He’s directed two massive Transformers blockbusters (with one more about to hit us) and the chances that the metallic men might destroy the odd building or two is something that has his heart growing several sizes. Now it looks like he’s aiming to combine that robophilia with another big current trend – zombies, as Sony has picked up the rights to Idw comic book Zombies Vs Robots for Bay’s Platinum Dunes company to produce.Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood launched the book in 2006, and it’s set on a post-apocalyptic world overrun with the undead. So far, so factory standard for zombies, but then it introduces a team of robots into the mix who are tasked with tracking down the last surviving human baby and cloning her so we can survive.Jt Perry, who wrote horror pic The Burrowers,...

Sony and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes (i.e. the guys behind the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street remakes) have picked up the rights to produce an adaptation of the Idw comic book Zombies Vs. Robots
According to Deadline, video game screenwriter J.T. Petty (Splinter Cell) is using the comic as the basis for a new film entitled Inherit The Earth, which basically means that the cult hit comic will be making it onto the big screen, but under a different guise.
This name change is presumably to cut ties with the upcoming Cowboys Vs. Aliens, which has nothing to do with this production but will inevitably lead many a Joe Average into thinking it is some sort of sequel, due to its similarly ridiculous title.

Though there are arguments to be made for the quality of some of Michael Bay's movies, his company Platinum Dunes has succeeded in producing absolutely nothing anyone has liked, from crappy horror movie remakes like A Nightmare On Elm Street to crappy original horror films like The Unborn.
