“Soldiers in Vietnam encountering dinosaurs… that hasn’t really been done.” That’s the premise behind the upcoming action/horror/sci-fi movie Primitive War, coming soon from writer/director Luke Sparke (Occupation Rainfall, Bring Him To Me). The film adapts author Ethan Pettus’ sci-fi military novel, and the first footage has arrived.

Primitive War is expected sometime in 2025, and a behind the scenes featurette this morning gives us our very first look at the film along with insights from the cast and crew.

Writer/Director Luke Sparke (Occupation Rainfall, Bring Him To Me) is adapting author Ethan Pettus’ sci-fi military novel Primitive War, testing a military unit’s survival skills against an unlikely enemy: dinosaurs. A new poster and images have been released, introducing the human side of the equation.

The poster, along with images below, teases dino carnage and promises that Primitive War is arriving in 2025.

“Battlestar Galactica” will not chronicle its next chapter on Peacock. A planned reboot for the classic sci-fi hit is no longer in development at the streamer, an insider close to the decision-making told TheWrap.

The project had been in development since 2019, helmed by Sam Esmail (“Mr. Robot”). It was never officially picked up to series at Peacock, and though no plot details were revealed, the show was set to be set in the same timeline as the popular 2003 series.

The news comes months after “The Sinner” EP Derek Simonds was tapped to be writer, executive producer and showrunner. The reboot will now be shopped around to other outlets by its production company, UCP, with whom Esmail has an overall deal. The project was in development with UCP, Esmail Corp and Chad Hamilton.

“Battlestar Galactica” was first introduced in the ’70s as a single-season show starring Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict and Lorne Greene.

The Cylons, androids created by man, are the villains of "Battlestar Galactica," but they wear human guises. This reflects how the show's human heroes are all deeply flawed people and humanity's foibles (from arrogance to self-destructive) continue to haunt them even as their technology soars past the modern day.

Indeed, the best villain in "Battlestar Galactica" was a human character: Admiral Helena Cain (Michelle Forbes), commander of the Battlestar Pegasus. In the series' pilot min-series, the Cylons attack humanity's 12 colonies. The only survivors appear to be Galactica herself and a handful of civilian spaceships, who set out to find the mythical world Earth to be their new home.

For the 15th anniversary of the "Battlestar Galactica" finale, I spoke with several of the show's writers and actors for an inside look at how it reached that conclusion. One of them was David Eick, the series' co-creator (with Ronald D. Moore). I asked the man who resurrected "Galactica" out of its campy 1970s roots why attempts to keep the franchise going faltered.

You see, "Battlestar" hadn't even been finished a year when a prequel spin-off debuted: "Caprica," an ensemble drama set more than 50 years before the series on the eponymous planet (one of the 12 colonies razed by the robotic Cylons at the outset of "Battlestar Galactica"). The series debuted in January 2010 and wrapped that November after a single, 19-episode first season -- its planned multi-year run aborted by low ratings.

Next, Eick and co. pivoted with "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome," a second prequel (but after "Caprica") set during the first human/Cylon war.

Created in 1978 by Glen A. Larson, the original Battlestar Galactica featured a great cast. Though the show only ran for a single season, the original series of Battlestar Galactica earned two Primetime Emmys and a People’s Choice Award in 1979 after its short run.

It also laid the groundwork for the 2004 reboot starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, which was similarly critically acclaimed and remains one of the most beloved sci-fi series in TV history.

On the cult TV series "Battlestar Galactica" (1978-1979), actor John Calicos played the evil Count Baltar, a human traitor who had sold out his species to the Cylons, a phalanx of genocidal androids who aim to destroy all humanity. Baltar was often seen in capes and robes and looked very much like a supervillain. In the world of "Battlestar," the Cylons have, in a sudden attack, destroyed the human homeworld. The remaining survivors must traverse through dangerous, enemy-laden space to the only known source of safety, a long-lost planet called Earth. Baltar would alternately betray the humans, but also secretly help them when he realized the depth of the Cylons' villainy.

The 2003 revival of "Battlestar Galactica" began with a massive miniseries experience, and the character of Baltar was reimagined as the more morally complicated Dr. Gaius Baltar, played by actor James Callis.

Dawn Wilkinson, who has partly directed the third season of drama series ‘Step Up’, has shared that the show features stories which are socially relevant but at the same time, they are very entertaining and engage the audience on an emotional plane.

Commenting on the storyline of the show Dawn, who has directed five of the season’s ten episodes said: “I love the way the characters are written, and Holly (showrunner) has created storylines where there are parallels between the characters. The stories are socially relevant but still entertaining and that engages an audience; makes them want to watch and makes them feel for the characters.”

Based on the cult film, ‘Step Up’, this series follows the drama, scandalous romance, and rivalries told through the intersection of the worlds of music and dance within a highly sought-after performance empire.

This short film titled PostHuman first premiered way back in 2012, playing at numerous film festivals before eventually landing online. It's under 5 minutes and it's definitely worth a watch. We're only now catching up with it all these years later and more than happy to feature it now. A genius hacker and his dog help an enigmatic young woman to free the remaining test subjects of a black ops Esp test lab. Directed by Cole Drumb, the short features the voices of Tricia Helfer as Kali and Ulric Dihle as Terrence. "Gritty, hyperstylized, and dripping with intense images, PostHuman is Nsfw, for children, or adults with no sense of adventure." This reminds me of Akira and Ghost in the Shell, with the same kind of animation style and hacker vibes. It's just too short!

It looks like High Water is closed for good this time. Starz has cancelled the Step Up series, so there won't be a fourth season. The third season is currently airing on Sunday nights on the cable channel.

Starz has canceled the “Step Up’ series after just one season on the network, Variety has confirmed.

Produced by Lionsgate TV, the first two seasons of the show were released on YouTube. Starz revived the show in 2020 after it was left in limbo when YouTube took a step back from producing original scripted content. At the time, news of the move seemed a sensible transition considering that Lionsgate is Starz’ parent company.

According to the series description, the musical drama followed the students and faculty of High Water, “an incubator for new artistic talent where founder Sage Odom (Ne-yo) and his partner Collette Jones (Christina Milian) struggle to maintain their empire.”

In Season 3, viewers witnessed Sage, Colette and their relationship challenged as they faced criminal charges, financial ruin, and powerful political enemies who wanted to destroy Sage and High Water. The Season 3 finale, which will now serve as the series finale,...

Step Up will not be returning for a fourth season on Starz.

Per Deadline, the series has been canceled after three seasons.

The news comes just ahead of its season finale, which is set to premiere next week.

Given how late in the game the cancellation came, there's a good chance there will be plenty of loose ends.

The series first started its life on YouTube, airing as a YouTube premium original for two seasons.

Inspired by the Step Up Lionsgate film franchise that grossed over 600 million at the worldwide box office, the series centers on Sage Odom (Ne-Yo) as the legendary founder of Atlanta’s famed High Water Performing Art School.

Exclusive: There will be no fourth season of Step Up (fka Step Up: High Water). Starz has canceled the drama series after its one-season run on the network. The upcoming Season 3 finale, slated to premiere next week, serving as a series finale.

The first two seasons of the Lionsgate TV TV-produced Step Up ran on YouTube. After the Google-owned company in 2019 pulled out of the original scripted business, leaving the series in limbo, Lionsgate-owned Starz stepped in and picked it up for a third season.

The cancellation of Step Up follows Starz’s cancellation yesterday of another Lionsgate TV-produced series, Dangerous Liaisons, reversing its early Season 2 renewal.

Lionsgate has been scrutinizing its balance sheets as the company is preparing to spin off its studio from Starz next year though sources indicated that the cancellations are largely product of fiscal austerity in a very tough economic environment as media companies are stepping up cost-cutting measures.

Exclusive: Principal photography has begun on Darrell Dennis’ heist comedy The Great Salish Heist. The film will shoot through the early fall on location in Southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Step Up: High Water is returning for its third season on Starz, and the cable channel has released a trailer and new key art. Ne-Yo and Christina Milian star in the drama series, which takes viewers back into the world of the Step Up franchise. Faizon Love, Eric Graise, Terayle Hill, Enrique Murciano, and Tricia Helfer also star in the drama.

The show debuted in 2018 on YouTube Red and ran for two seasons on that platform before being cancelled in August 2019. Starz revived Step Up: High Water for a third season in May 2020.

Despite the chaos of The Rookie Season 4 Episode 1, on The Rookie Season 4 Episode 2, it seemed like the team was back to regular business.

This episode had a special guest star, Tricia Helfer! She always seems to be popping up in all of our favorite shows now and then. Of course, she was as charming as always!

As the episode unraveled, the division gained a new rookie. Usually, this would be exciting though said rookie carries a significant burden on his shoulders at all times.

It seems like The Rookie wants to keep reminding the audience that they didn't forget about Jackson West. The opening scene of this episode was an awkward conversation about what color to paint his room.

Tamara moved into West's old room in Chen's apartment; it seemed like Nolan was enlisted to help paint the walls against his will. Maybe he owed Chen a favor? Who truly knows.

Kevin Alejandro had a slightly different experience from his “Lucifer” co-stars when wrapping up his time on the show, as his last day of shooting on the sixth and final season was one in which he both acted in the episode and directed it. And it just so happens that this particular installment, “Goodbye, Lucifer,” featured the moment that fans of Alejandro’s Detective Dan Espinoza have been waiting for ever since he died and went to hell at the end of Season 5B: the closure that allows him to head up to heaven.

The scene comes in the penultimate episode of the series, which launched Friday, and features a conversation between Dan and his young daughter with Chloe (Lauren German), Trixie (Scarlett Estevez), who has been devastated over her father’s death for months and unable to cope without him.

As the apocalypse draws closer with the sixth and final season of ‘Lucifer’, Netflix has debuted the first trailer.

Season 6 follows on directly from the previous season, Lucifer scored the promotion, but does he really want the job? Plus, Chloe prepares to give up detective work, Amenadiel joins the LAPD, and more.

Battlestar Galactica actress Tricia Helfer has predominantly played two different – but very memorable characters – on Netflix‘s fan favorite police procedural Lucifer, making her journey in the series a complex one.

Artists Emmylou Harris and Pryor & Lee are among the music performers, with celebrities Amanda Seyfried, Alison Pill, Brittany Snow, Holly Taylor, Kat Dennings, Tricia Helfer, author W. Bruce Cameron, TikTok influencer Caitlyn Cohen and others appearing.

“Music is a universal language and brings so much joy to the world,” said Julie Castle, chief executive officer at Best Friends Animal Society. “This concert will celebrate how music and our love of animals unite us and show how we can all come together to support each other, our communities and homeless pets.”
