Carlos Zaragoza is the production designer of the animated musical "Vivo," directed by Kirk De Micco at Sony Pictures Animation, which features new songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creative force behind "In the Heights" and the Broadway smash "Hamilton."
His extensive experience includes production design, art direction and set design for more than 20 years in live-action feature films, animation, musical theater, advertising, and television. His animation credits include the production design of "The Emoji Movie", the art direction of the short film "La Noria" by Carlos Baena, the visual development of "The Tale of Despereaux", "Gnomeo & Juliet", "Wonder Park", "Madagascar 3", "Mr.Peabody & Sherman" and "Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves", films produced by Dreamworks, Paramount, Universal and Sony Animation Studios. He did production design, art direction and set design in multiple live action feature dramas and fantasy films. He designed the settings of iconic movies such as "Pan's Labyrinth", directed by Guillermo del Toro and "Asterix at The Olympic Games". He was awarded by the Art Director's Guild with the ADG Excellence in Production Design Award for his work in the art direction team of "Pan's Labyrinth". Carlos was nominated for the Best Production Design Annie Award 2022 for Vivo.
