What a film audience takes away from its two hours in a dark theater
depends somewhat on who the audience is, but mostly on who the
filmmakers are. Shaun Newton, is a filmmaker who loves telling a story
with fully developed characters who go through a process to learn
something. His films take us, his audience, through those same
processes, and we leave theaters enriched by the unforgettable
characters, excited by the great stories and intrigued by the new
experiences.
Newton has always been a storyteller. His first paid project was a documentary entitled, "Every 15 Minutes", about teenagers and drunk driving. He followed up on that project with 5 spec commercials for various products. From there he also worked odd jobs in the industry, working mostly for television as a camera operator, researcher, or production coordinator. All of this by age 23.
He has also written 2 screenplays, both registered with the Writer's Guild, and is presently (2002) working on 3 more. Shaun's continued success will no doubt be one to look for on future horizons.
