Cut! 2014
Director: David Rountree
Cast (In credits order): Sam Scarber , Dahlia Salem , David Banks , David Rountree , William McNamara , Gabrielle Stone , Suze Lanier-Bramlett , Chris Moir, Allen Maldonado, Rosie Garcia
Cut! is a satire of the indie horror "industry" and a clever, dark parody of indie horror films that both embraces and sends up the clichés that we have come to expect from straight to DVD horror. It is also a very good movie that ingeniously disguises itself as a very bad one.
Travis is a manager at a studio warehouse with an encyclopedic knowledge of horror, who dreams of making a horror movie, but despite the wealth of resources around him, can't seem to come up with the resources to make his dreams come true. His friend and coworker Lane is an unstable ex-con with a penchant for pushing people's buttons.

Actor and music video director David Rountree (XXX, State Of The Union) has found his way behind the camera on Cut!, his feature length directorial debut. Rountree is wearing many hats on the Psycho Rock Productions picture, also serving as actor, co-writer (with David Banks), producer, and editor in a picture that takes filmmaking into very real, very scary, territory.
The film stars Sam Scarber, Dahlia Salem, David Banks, Gabrielle Stone, Suze Lanier-Bramlett, Chris Moir, Allen Maldonado, and Rosie Garcia. The special make up effects are by Brittany Duncan.
Synopsis (courtesy Psycho Rock):
“The apparent is never the truth as an ex-con and aspirant filmmaker set out to manufacture a horror film by scaring people for real; however, when it goes too far and someone actually dies, the pair decide that killing for real on film is the way to make a truly terrifying movie.”

Rest your wallets, folks, there are hardly any new major horror releases this week. Instead we're getting mostly re-released Blu-ray and 3D Blu-rays. Really the only thing that's piquing our curiosity is RoboGeisha!
And if you are a gamer, soundtracks to your favorite zombie killing video games are now available for playing outside of the game consoles. Excited? Not even a little?
Clash of the Titans Blu-ray 3D
Directed by Louis Leterrier
Starring Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos, Ralph Fiennes
If you hadn't had enough of this 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans (review) on Blu-ray DVD or in the theaters (review), this is your chance to get double- (triple-?) dip on the title with a Blu-ray 3D version. Or you can just relive it all on our Clash of the Titans page instead. Don't say we didn't warn you. If you don't already know, Clash of the Titans...

As his father continues to attempt to rejuvenate his seemingly never-ending “Dead” series, Cameron Romero follows up his debut “The Screening” with another slice of familiar horror in “Staunton Hill”. Although this may sound a little cynical, the film really is pretty basic stuff, being a by the numbers “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” knock off, with youngsters being chased and killed by psychotic rednecks in the rural backwoods. Still, Romero shows himself to be a better director than most, and the film benefits from a decent cast of half recognisable faces, if not names, including Cristen Coppen (“Road Trip”), David Rountree (“XXX2”, and who also scripted), Kiko Ellsworth (from the television series “Heroes” and “Dexter”) and Charlie Bodin (briefly in “Transformer”). The plot is familiar to say the least, set in Virginia in the autumn of 1969 and following five student types who are hitchhiking their way across country to the political rallies taking place in Washington.

Already released October 6, 2009 Anchor Bay Entertainments blood-thristy "Staunton Hill" can be found on DVD with a gorey trailer now available. Very much in the horror realm "Staunton Hill" is directed by George A. Romero's son Cameron Romero and despite a straight-to-dvd release much more will be heard from this director once this film gets a wider audience. Check out the trailer for Romero's "Staunton Hill" inside.
A synopsis for "Staunton Hill" can be found here:
"When a group of hikers take off for a weekend of fun and adventure in a remote mountain region, they unwittingly stumble across the Staunton family, for whom the hill is named, and find themselves at the mercy of a depraved, diabolical brood that will stop at nothing to rid their property of these "trespassers." The only law on Staunton's Hill is the law of the Stauntons...and, in this case, the penalty for defying that law is death.

Anchor Bay Entertainment gave Fango the official word that it’s releasing Staunton Hill to DVD next month (see the cover art below). The movie, which streets October 6, was directed by G. Cameron Romero, son of zombie master George A. Romero.
Scripted by David Rountree (who also co-stars), Staunton Hill is set at the titular locale in the middle of a remote mountain area. A group of hikers arrive for a weekend jaunt and wind up on the Staunton family property—and needless to say, this twisted bunch doesn’t take kindly to trespassers, setting out to stalk and kill them. The junior Romero’s second fright feature after the as-yet unreleased The Screening, Staunton Hill also toplines Kathy Lamkin (Tea Lady from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and its prequel), Cristen Coppen, Kiko Ellsworth, Christine Carlo, Paula Rhodes, Charlie Bodin, B.J.
