Dance music duo Massive Attack are donating all the proceeds from their new mini-album to the War Child charity. Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall are longstanding supporters of the organization, working with charity bosses to highlight the plight of needy kids in areas of conflict such as Bosnia and Sarajevo.
And they've pledged to boost the cause's funds with their new release, "Atlas Air". Del Naja tells BBC 6 Music, "They do a lot of great work in different territories which aren't really that newsworthy anymore maybe."
"When the glare of the camera is gone and the focus isn't on that place obviously other people need to step in and help work on the ground with the kids out there, who are still in really awful environments and predicaments."...

Del Naja, 45, said that curating the 2008 event with Grant Marshall made the duo realise their recent recordings "missed that 'together' vibe". With Bristol tainted by memories of past tensions, the pair decided to create new LP Heligoland from Damon Albarn's 13 studios in West London. "It was the first time we had worked together since (more)...

Massive Attack nearly "imploded" in the 90s. The Bristol-based group - who have collaborated with numerous music stars, including Madonna and Neneh Cherry - have revealed inter-band fights became so intense they nearly gave up. Grant Marshall - who is now only joined in the group by Robert Del Naja after third member Andrew Vowles, also known as Mushroom, quit in 1999 - said: "Oh yes, we were definitely on the edge of imploding. There didn't seem any point remaining friends." Similar problems emerged during the making of their last album, 2003's '100th Window', after Marshall became a new father and had little input into the record. He added: "Luckily, we came through it because it turned out that the...

Coldplay are newly crowned double winners at the 2008 Q Awards. The rock band were hailed Best Act in the World Today and their latest album "Viva la Vida" was given the honor as Best Album. "I don't think we're the best act in the room, let alone the world," Chris Martin, the band's frontman said.
The British event also saw winnings from Duffy, The Last Shadow Puppets, Keane, and Kaiser Chiefs. Duffy beat Adele and Santogold but she could not attend the event to receive the award. Puppets, which is a side project by Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, picked up Best New Act. Turner appearing solo said, "Thank you very much. I understand it's voted by the readers so this means a lot of course. Unfortunately my partner couldn't be here because he had some trouble with the trains."
