Thomas has traveled to or lived in 25 different countries. He has two younger brothers, Winsor and Daniel. The family lived in Brazil for four years, Romania for six, Peru for three and Japan for six. His family enjoys tennis, Jack Russel Terriers and movies. He was a tennis coach and summer camp counselor at Camp Winona in Bridgton, ME for three summers where he was also a camper for six summers.

Thomas is also a writer. He wrote a full length historical biopic based on Walden by Henry David Thoreau, a full length comedic play based on The Emu War (a real event in 1932 Australia) and numerous sketches and short films.
