Edem Wornoo is a Ghanaian-British writer and director from South London.
Nominated for Best New Director at the UK Music Video Awards 2022, Wornoo is known for his music videos for the likes of Dave, Stormzy and Wretch 32 alongside his carefully constructed, poignant narrative work. Thematically, Wornoo's work consists of Street Level Fantasies that draw out the magic in the people, places, and things that he grew up around.
Wornoo has been featured in The British Blacklist, The Face's '13 names to know in 2023' and GUAP Magazine's '30 Under 30' 2023. Wornoo won best Screenplay at SoulFest x American Black Film Festival, and his short film 'Butterfly Affect' produced in association with Sky, which he directed and wrote was an Official Selection at the London Short Film Festival.
Wornoo recently served as 2nd Unit Director and as one of the Writers of the critically acclaimed BBC and Netflix musical drama 'Champion' created by Candice Carty-Williams. Wornoo also served as 2nd Unit Director on Carty-Williams' most recent series 'Queenie' an adaptation of her best-selling novel now on Channel 4, Hulu and Disney+.
Wornoo's latest short film 'That Door' is a surreal horror set in a corner shop that explores what happens to the things that we care about when we neglect them.
