Matthew Foster is an accomplished character actor with extensive experience on stage and screen in both Australia and the United States. He studied acting in Sydney and New York City, then spent a decade living and working in the US. Currently, he splits his time between Sydney and Los Angeles.
Matthew's television credits include The Good Place (2016), The Orville (2017), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013), House of Cards (2013), Shameless (2011), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011), as well as Australian shows Home and Away (1988), All Saints (1998), and White Collar Blue (2002).
On film, he will appear in the upcoming Kajillionaire (2020), alongside Evan Rachel Wood. He can also be seen in the Mike Mills film, 20th Century Women (2016), starring Annette Bening. Matthew has also starred in numerous short films, including Homesick (2013), Intervention (2001) and Clicked (2011), all of which he also wrote and directed.
His many theatre credits in Sydney include Lend Me A Tenor, Noises Off, Twelve Angry Men, True West, and Miss Julie. In the United States, he has appeared in The 39 Steps, My Fair Lady, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice and The Jew of Malta. He also co-founded Australian Made Entertainment, a theatre company dedicated to producing Australian plays in the US, for which he has produced and starred in Così, Speaking In Tongues, and The Club.
A seasoned improv performer, Matthew has won the coveted Cranston Cup and represented Australia at the World Domination TheatreSports tournament in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also appeared on the Las Vegas Strip performing nightly at the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Aussie Improv Comedy Explosion.
