It’s abundantly clear that the folks over at Lucasfilm are struggling to decide how to continue the world of “Star Wars” on the big screen. Outside of the ‘Mandalorian & Grogu’ film that is in the works now (but based on a TV series), there seems to be a lot of confusion about what the studio is doing with one of the biggest franchises of all time.

Last week, we got word that that Lucasfilm is in the process of developing a new Star Wars trilogy, with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) tapped to write and produce all three films.
Deadline initially claimed that this new trilogy would continue the Skywalker Saga with Episodes 10, 11 and 12, but there have been a number of conflicting reports since.
EW would later weigh-in, reporting that "these movies will be the start of a new saga rather than the continuation of the numbered Star Wars films," while insider Jeff Sneider was more inclined to side with the original report, adding that Daisy Ridley's Rey will be "positioned as the Obi-Wan of the new trilogy.”
Now, THR has shared some updates, and whether this new trilogy does serve as a direct continuation of the main saga or not, it sounds like Disney and Lucasfilm do indeed see Rey "Skywalker" as being key to the franchise's future.

To celebrate Deadpool & Wolverine's Disney+ debut, Ryan Reynolds has shared a new deleted scene from the movie on his social media accounts.
The sequence takes place immediately after the Deadpool Corps decide to stop fighting so they can celebrate the arrival of Peter. Earth-10005's Merc with the Mouth decides to join in and share how his Peter gave him a sense of belonging...only to be immediately met with a chorus of insults from the Corps.
"Get f***ed, d***head," Kidpool tells him before another chimes in to say, "Go back to Canada, a**hole."
However, the biggest insult comes when Welshpool - played by Wrexham footballer Paul Mullins - gives Wade Wilson two fingers and shouts, "F*** off, c***!" Yes, Deadpool & Wolverine very nearly featured the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first true C-bomb.
Of course, the movie did include the line "thunderc*** from down underc***" but...

Lucasfilm wants to continue Rey’s story, as played by Daisy Ridley, with parallel Star Wars productions said to be writing plots around her character.
The Star Wars franchise has been a familiar enough sight on TV over the past five years, thanks to such shows as The Mandalorian and Andor. As we’ve recently explored, Lucasfilm is on shakier ground in cinemas, having been away from the big screen since 2019’s The Rise Of Skywalker.
Lucasfilm is evidently keen to continue the story of Rey, though, with actor Daisy Ridley set to reprise her role in a film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Reportedly called New Jedi Order, that film is said to feature a more seasoned Rey, now the mentor to a new generation of trainee Jedi.

At Star Wars Celebration 2023, a new Star Wars movie focused on Rey was announced. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the film will follow Rey as she works to rebuild the Jedi Order after The Rise of Skywalker.
The script was first written by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson but was later taken over by Steven Knight. Recently, it was announced that Knight has left the project.
The story takes place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and explores a galaxy in chaos after the war and the fall of the First Order. The Jedi are struggling, and Rey is working to keep her promise to Luke by rebuilding the Jedi Order using the ancient books.
It’s still unclear if this movie will lead to a new trilogy, but recent reports suggest that could be the case. A new trilogy of Star Wars films is in development, and some sources say...

A new Rey-focused Star Wars movie was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the film follows Rey’s journey to rebuild the Jedi Order after ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’
Originally written by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, the script was later taken over by Steven Knight, and the recent news is that Knight has left the production.
The story is set 15 years after ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ exploring the post-war, post-First Order galaxy with the Jedi in disarray. Kathleen Kennedy mentioned that Rey is working to fulfill her promise to Luke and rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the ancient books.
So far, it’s been unknown whether that standalone movie will lead to a new trilogy, but some recent reports are certainly leaning in that direction. A new trilogy of Star Wars movies is in the making. Deadline reports that these films could be episodes 10-12 of the Skywalker Saga,...

Henry Cavill seems to be verse-jumping as he was recently seen in DC’s rival franchise, the MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor had a small cameo as a Wolverine variant a.k.a The Cavillrine in Deadpool & Wolverine. This came after his exit as Superman from the Dceu after James Gunn took over and chose to go with a new actor instead.
Cavill has headlined The Witcher, starred in Mission Impossible: Fallout, and has played Sherlock Holmes, making him a franchise-favorite actor. While the James Bond role seems to be elusive to him, the actor had expressed interest in being a part of another legendary franchise, provided a new film met his expectations.

The Star Wars franchise is one of the biggest in the world, but Lucasfilm is clearly struggling to get the next stage of movies off the ground. It’s been nearly five years since the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but it still feels as though the studio doesn’t have a clear plan for what’s next. Sure, there’s been plenty of projects announced, but so many of them have been shelved or are in limbo. However, a report from THR states that when Star Wars does return, Rey (Daisy Ridley) will be playing a role in several movies and that she will be “key to the franchise’s next turn.“
Daisy Ridley was already set to return as Rey for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s (Ms. Marvel) movie, but it’s looking as though she may have a part to play in the recently announced trilogy...

Forget the Death Star, the most coveted weapon in the Star Wars movie arsenal is the character of Rey Skywalker.
Since the Nov. 7 reveal that Simon Kinberg had signed on to develop and write and produce a new Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm and Disney, debate has focused on whether or not it would be a continuation of the so-called nine-film Skywalker Saga, tying it to the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and storylines first laid out by George Lucas in 1977. The reason for the debate is that the new, hoped-for trilogy would feature Rey in some form or fashion.
Some fans have expressed criticism that Lucasfilm would return to the well to make “episodes,” as they are called, beyond the nine movies that comprise the Skywalker story, which had been billed as concluding with 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. That film grossed $1.077 billion globally...

As we mentioned a little earlier today, Deadpool & Wolverine is now streaming on Disney+. With a record-breaking $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, we're guessing most of you have seen it already; now, though, you can watch it at home whenever you like.
While doing so, you might want to grab some popcorn. Perhaps you can put that in one of the highly sought-after Wolverine popcorn buckets released earlier this summer?
However, you probably shouldn't take any cues from the Merc with the Mouth while doing so! Yes, he uses it in exactly the Nsfw way you'd expect.
We know Ryan Reynolds and Leslie Uggams recently reunited to shoot additional material and it looks like that will mostly take the form of promo videos like this (we'd imagine something is coming for Christmas and the rest will be used for the threequel's planned FYC campaign).
"His mind goes a thousand miles an hour,...

Deadpool & Wolverine is now streaming on Disney+, and Marvel Studios has just shared a few new posters for the movie highlighting some very different - and undeniably intriguing - team-ups we didn't get to see.
The first shows Cowboypool and Old Man Logan fighting side-by-side, while the second features Wolverine surrounded by an endless supply of Deadpool Corps Variants. Finally, we get Dogpool and a literal Wolverine, a team-up we really wish had made it into the threequel.
Ryan Reynolds and filmmaker Shawn Levy previously said there are "hundreds" of Easter Eggs in Deadpool & Wolverine that fans have yet to spot.
"I'll give this one away: when I punt Wolverine's adamantium skull toward camera, and I say, 'Maradona goal,' and it goes up, if you really look closely, you'll see that his prisoner number from Les Mis is engraved in the back of the throat of...

Late last week, we learned that Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy have turned to Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg to write and produce a new Star Wars trilogy.
There have been conflicting reports about whether these movies will serve as Episodes 10, 11, and 12 in the Skywalker Saga. However, most outlets have since confirmed they won't be a continuation of that story.
According to a new piece from Variety (via SFFGazette.com), the news came as a surprise to executives at Lucasfilm and Disney, but is "considered internally to be in deep development and not nearly ready to be made public." In other words, this could be another announced Star Wars project that fails to ever come to fruition.
The trade acknowledges that many in the industry were shocked by Kinberg's hiring, particularly as his track record as a writer is spotty at best.

Writer-producer Simon Kinberg is working on a new Star Wars trilogy, said to be Episodes X-xii, but reports also highlight how far off it’s likely to be.
As we’ve recently explored on these pages, Lucasfilm has spent the past five years announcing Star Wars films and then not making them. With the exception of TV spin-off The Mandalorian And Grogu, due in cinemas in 2026, precisely none of the movies announced by the studio in recent years have gone into production. Big names have been attached – Patty Jenkins, Taika Waititi, Shawn Levy and the like – but little else of substance has emerged.
To the list of names on Lucasfilm’s roster we can now add Simon Kinberg – the multi-hyphenate filmmaker whose addition to the Star Wars franchise was announced on the 7th November. The word is that Kinberg, best known for his work on the X-Men film series, is...

Daisy Ridley walked onto the Star Wars set for her first appearance as the next generation of a Skywalker. Some loved her as the mysteriously shrouded Rey while others just griped over the written dialogue. Now, there could be a non-Skywalker future ahead for the property.
It was announced earlier in the week that a new trilogy series will be brought to the big screen. Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, the new trilogy may or may not involve a Skywalker.
There was speculation, maybe even a little rumor that the next trilogy could wrap the Skywalker saga once and for all. We do know that the final film in the third series ended with a cryptic twist about children surviving with possible Jedi powers. That has yet to be addressed because there hasn't been a Star Wars film since Episode 9.
There has been a lot of discussion about future Star Wars properties.

When news broke on Thursday that Simon Kinberg — best known for being a writer, producer, director or all of the above on much of the “X-Men” franchise — had been hired by Lucasfilm to write and produce a new “Star Wars” trilogy, it came as a surprise to many executives at Lucasfilm and Disney. The project is considered internally to be in deep development and not nearly ready to be made public.
There was also some surprise within the wider industry that Lucasfilm had turned to Kinberg as the newest steward of “Star Wars” on the big screen. According to multiple industry sources with experience working in the franchise space, Kinberg is seen on one level as a sensible and safe choice. Starting with 2005’s “XXX: State of the Union” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” his films as a screenwriter have grossed more than $3.3 billion worldwide. Lucasfilm recently announced a new Star Wars trilogy to be led by Simon Kinberg, known for his work on Fox’s X-Men films. The news was expected to spark major fan excitement, but the response has been surprisingly lukewarm.
Since the announcement, fan reactions—and even media commentary, which is typically more neutral—have leaned negative. It appears that many fans aren’t looking forward to this new installment, and given recent challenges within the franchise, there may be good reason for the skepticism.
While some hold out hope that Kinberg might revive the series’ classic spirit, Kathleen Kennedy’s recent comments about moving the franchise beyond George Lucas’ original vision suggest that may not be the direction. In this piece, we’ll delve into an insightful analysis from ComicBookMovie.com and highlight fan reactions to this upcoming trilogy.

Lucasfilm recently announced a new Star Wars trilogy that will be headed by Simon Kinberg, best known for his work on several films from Fox’s X-Men franchise. The announcement was something big and it was supposed to result in a lot of fan enthusiasm, but based on what we’re seeing, the reactions are everything but!
Namely, after the announcement, the reactions by fans, but also by media outlets – which is rare – have been mostly negative and it doesn’t look like anyone is looking forward to these movies, and based on the recent successes of the franchise, there seems to be a good reason for it.
While some fans are hopeful that Kinberg might bring back the franchise to its roots, Kathleen Kennedy’s comments about the franchise needing to move away from George Lucas’ original narrative don’t seem to indicate this.

Earlier this week, the (potentially) exciting news broke that Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars trilogy, with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) tapped to write and produce all three films.
Deadline's report claimed that this new trilogy will continue the Skywalker Saga with Episodes 10, 11 and 12, but the trade noted that this intel has been disputed, and some insiders believe that Kinberg will "instead begin a new saga and sits alongside Star Wars percolating projects with James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover."
Sure enough, EW has now weighed-in, and they claim that "these movies will be the start of a new saga rather than the continuation of the numbered Star Wars films."
THR's report followed suit.
"The new story is not meant to be a continuation of the Skywalker Saga, the name of the overall arc of the popular and pop culture-dominating Star Wars movies known as Episodes 1 through 9.

It's the movie that fans just aren't sure about. Star Trek: Origins will be set in the Prime Timeline, and according to past reports, it will be set pre-Enterprise, long before Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Enterprise, and cover Earth's first contact with the Vulcans, which was already done in Star Trek: First Contact. That's just one of the issues fans see coming from a mile away. That said, the movie is going forward regardless.
According to Screenrant, pre-production has already started on the film. Most likely, filming will begin in early 2025. The script will be written Seth Grahame-Smith, and the movie will be directed by Toby Haynes with Simon Kinberg serving as producer.

Exclusive: Christopher Nolan isn’t done adding some serious star power to his next film at Universal. Sources tell Deadline that Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are set to star in his next event film. They would join previously announced cast members Matt Damon and Tom Holland.
The film will have an Imax release on July 17, 2026. The date falls in line with a number of Nolan films that have had similar release dates in the past.
Universal had no comment on the latest castings.
The movie is expected to start shooting in early 2025, but sources note that loglines or descriptions of the film that have been published to date are wrong, and details are being kept under wraps.

Simon Kinberg’s career has taken him everywhere from the X-Men universe to Star Wars Rebels. His body of work, nevertheless, remains largely divisive. Ask fans of any franchise how they feel about a revival at his hands, and they would not be particularly pleased by the idea.
A Band of Heroes | Credits: Marvel
But whether he’s writing a detective thriller in Sherlock Holmes or launching some old-school mutants into battle, his projects still bring something memorable to the table. With Kinberg signed on to create a new Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm, sparking some major excitement (and a little bit of nervousness), let’s count down his top ten movies where he took on the roles of either a writer or director – sometimes even both.
10. Fantastic Four (2015)
The less said about the Fantastic Four, the better. Maybe it is just one of those comics that shouldn’t be turned into a movie.

The Star Wars franchise is a mess. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy's time in charge of the studio has been chaotic, disorganised, and directionless. Meanwhile, a small section of the fanbase has become increasingly vocal and grotesquely toxic.
Over the years, a lot of hate has been directed at Kennedy because she's a woman. If that sort of misogynistic Bs is what you're hoping to find here, move along now. The fact is, the executive has delivered a lot of hits for the Disney-owned studio, breaking box office records and helping put Disney+ on the map with The Mandalorian.
However, those achievements are quickly being overshadowed and this week's reports about a new Star Wars trilogy are the final straw. It's time for Kennedy to go before the damage done to this franchise becomes irreparable.

Actor Mark Hamill rose to fame with his performance as Luke Skywalker in 1977’s Star Wars, directed by George Lucas. While Hamill reprised the role for two more installments of the original trilogy, Lucas did not resume directorial responsibilities for them. As a result, Hamill only worked with Lucas the director in one movie.

Hamill later reprised his role for the sequel trilogy, which received mixed response from critics and fans. However, a new trilogy continuing the Skywalker saga is rumored to be in development at Lucasfilm. Therefore, Hamill could theoretically get another chance to reunite with Lucas if the latter returns to the space opera saga that he kickstarted all those years ago.

While fans are still dealing with the travesty that was The Acolyte and are looking forward to Skeleton Crew, it was reported that a new Star Wars trilogy was in development with Simon Kinberg writing and producing. Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have given an official statement but it is rumored to be a new story with new characters.
Lucasfilm gas announced many film projects in the past, including a trilogy by Rian Johnson. However, most of these projects have been in limbo. On top of that, giving Kinberg the responsibility to handle a trilogy even before testing the waters may be a controversial decision. However, Kinberg does not come without experience.

Apart from the original Star Wars trilogy, no other films have received almost unanimous acceptance from fans or critics.

Disney and Lucasfilm's handling of the Star Wars IP has been, well, lackluster to say the least. The franchise has lacked a direction since the divisive sequel trilogy ended in 2019 with Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
The franchise has found mixed response with its series on Disney+. Andor and The Mandalorian have been largely viewed as a success, while The Acolyte was canceled after just one season.
Lucasfilm does have a few Star Wars projects in development right now, but the only concrete plans right now are for The Mandalorian & Grogu, which will be written by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and released in May 2026.
Beyond that, there's an untitled New Jedi Order film which will follow Daisy Ridley's Rey coming from Sharmeen Obaid-Chionoy, an untitled Dawn of the Jedi movie from James Mangold, and an untitled New Republic film from Dave Filoni.

Deadpool & Wolverine spends a lot of time in The Void and the background is littered with Easter Eggs for Marvel fans.
Among them was the only 20th Century Fox logo, of course, not to mention a Helicarrier, the Benatar, and a colonial ship many theorised might be Russell Crowe's vessel from Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
According to filmmaker Shawn Levy, that's not the case. However, another famous ship was considered and it would have led to an unexpected crossover with a classic Fox movie.
"We were going to have the Titanic in it," the filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly after giving the VFX credit for coming up with much of The Void's detritus. "There are some Fox-centric Easter eggs. In fact, I think Nakatomi Tower [from Die Hard] is in there, as well as the Cn Tower, weirdly. So, Canada wins!"

Yesterday, we reported that a new Star Wars trilogy is being made. Deadline says these movies could be episodes 10-12 of the Skywalker Saga, which started with George Lucas’s first Star Wars film in 1977.
That film, along with Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, changed blockbuster movies forever. Lucasfilm has teamed up with Simon Kinberg, who has worked with them before, including co-creating the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ TV series and helping with ‘The Force Awakens.’
He has also worked on other big franchises, writing and producing the ‘X-Men’ movies and the ‘Logan’ spinoff with Hugh Jackman, directed by James Mangold. Kinberg also produced the first two ‘Deadpool’ movies and was an executive producer for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024).
While this may seem like an exciting new chapter for Star Wars, fans aren’t so sure, and once again Kathleen Kennedy is facing criticism for things she said before. A couple of years ago,...

Lucasfilm confirms new Star Wars trilogy ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
It’s time to travel to a galaxy far, far away once again, as a new Star Wars trilogy has been confirmed to be in the works. Lucasfilm has signed a deal with filmmaker Simon Kinberg to develop three new films based on the iconic franchise.
The Star Wars series already features three trilogies: the originals, released between 1977 and 1983, the prequels, released between 1999 and 2005; and the recent sequels, released by Disney between 2015 and 2019.
Simon Kinberg to Create New Star Wars Trilogy
The project is still in the early stages of Development, and reports suggest that it will feature a fresh storyline after The Skywalker Saga concluded with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. However, a source quoted by Deadline has revealed that the new films could also continue the tale of Luke Skywalker, becoming episodes 10 to 12 of the overall franchise.

Lucasfilm has put three more Star Wars films into gestation, and who knows? Some of these might actually get made.
Several sources are reporting that Lucasfilm is planning a return to the cinematic trilogy format that helped to build the Star Wars brand into a pop culture giant for decades.
Since the release of the (largely) unloved The Rise Of Skywalker in 2019, a film that was supposed to draw a line underneath The Skywalker Saga, the future of Star Wars on cinema screens has seemed somewhat rudderless.
In short, a large portion of the audience wasn’t keen on The Rise Of Skywalker, partly because it was clearly missing the central aspect of any trilogy: a joined-up story that connects elements of the previous two films. Lucasfilm’s baffling decision to relaunch Star Wars as a trio of films for a new generation without first figuring out how those films...

Star Wars fandom is fuming right now after Lucasfilm has reportedly closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop another Star Wars trilogy. While the report suggested that Kinberg is onboarded for a continuation of The Skywalker Saga, insiders disputed the claim and shared that the new trilogy will begin a new saga. Either way, fans do not want the project to be associated with Kinberg.

Two reputable media outlets are reporting the same hot potatoe news story, with some variations: both The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline report that Disney has hired Simon Kinberg, best known for his work on Fox's X-Men movies and for co-creating the show Star Wars Rebels, to write a trilogy of new Star Wars movies. But the details differ. Deadline says that the new trilogy will be the next chapter in the "Skywalker Saga" and follow up directly on Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, which ended with lead character Rey chrisening herself "Rey Skywalker." But The Hollywood Reporter says that the trilogy is explicitly meant not to be a continuation of the Skywalker Saga but will rather feature new characters and a new story, with the hope that it will take the franchise in a new direction.

We’re now five years removed from “Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.” While there have been plenty of new “Star Wars” television shows on Disney+ — some of them even stellar — there’s still no clear answer to what Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm want to do with the film arm of the massive franchise.
This week, the latest writer looking to bring the films back to the big screen is Simon Kinberg, the writer behind many of the X-Men movies. No one knows what those movies are going to be about just yet either, or when they could come out.
But the questions about where this franchise is going next have been percolating for years, to the point that we’ve bemoaned its lack of direction and lost potential on several occasions. “The Rise of Skywalker,” of course, was already the product of whiplash to fan reaction and backlash to “The Last Jedi,...

Today in news that I'm putting in the "I'll believe it when I see it" category, it's been reported by Deadline that Simon Kinberg is now slated to write and produce three upcoming Star Wars films.
Deadline writer Mike Fleming Jr. clearly specifies that his intel says it's Episodes 10-12 but other people in the business with other intel disagree with this notion. These other reporters say it will be more along the lines of the James Mangold and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's standalone projects.
Until we get a trailer or confirmation that filming has begun, at least, I don't put too much faith in reports like these, even if it's coming from a place as reputable as Deadline. There have been so many announced movies and trilogies that have fallen through that it's difficult to be excited about these things. How is Patty Jenkins' Rogue Sqaudron doing? Taika Waititi's...

Lucasfilm has struck a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop a new trilogy of Star Wars movies, with Kinberg set to write and produce the films alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
According to Deadline, these films could potentially continue the iconic Skywalker Saga as Episodes 10-12. This saga began with George Lucas’s original Star Wars in 1977—a groundbreaking movie that, along with Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, forever redefined the blockbuster film genre.
Sources indicate that rather than continuing the Skywalker Saga, Kinberg’s trilogy will introduce a new storyline, joining an expanding lineup of Star Wars projects in development by James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover. Simon Kinberg, the prominent producer, writer, and director best known for his work on the “X-Men” franchise, has signed a deal to develop a new trilogy of “Star Wars” films that he will write and produce, Deadline reports. Kinberg will produce with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy.

What started as a novelty with George Lucas’ original trilogy was running on fumes by the point the Skywalker saga concluded in 2019 with the final installment in the sequel trilogy or so we thought.

A new report indicated that Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy has given the green light to develop a new Star Wars trilogy, which is described as episodes 10 to 12 of the overarching narrative that has been unfolding on the big screen for over four decades. What the heck is going on at Lucasfilm? Recently, Steven Knight left as the writer for the Rey trilogy, aka Episodes 10, 11, and 12. Now, Deadline has announced that Simon Kinberg will be taking over as writer and producer along with Kathleen Kennedy.
How many writers have the Rey films had so far?
Knight was brought in to replace the original writers, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson. Later, Lindelof publicly stated that he was asked to leave Star Wars. And now we have Kinberg.
Kinberg’s Star Wars and Marvel Experience
To his credit, Kinberg has “Star Wars” experience. He co-created “Star Wars Rebels” with Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck and was a consultant on “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.”
He has also worked on “X-Men” films and was the producer on the three “Deadpool” films.
The man has some solid work under his belt, but so did other writers announced for the films,...

Simon Kinberg, the writer of Fox’s “X-Men” movies, is the latest in a long carousel of writers and producers who will try their hand at bringing “Star Wars” back to the big screen.
Kinberg will develop, write, and produce a new trilogy of “Star Wars” films for Lucasfilm, according to a report first in Deadline. Though there’s some difference of opinion in the trades as to whether the series will continue the Skywalker Saga and be Episodes X-xii or will be focused on a new group of characters.
While there have been a plethora of “Star Wars” series on Disney+ in the last five years, there hasn’t been a single theatrical “Star Wars” movie since the Skywalker Saga concluded with “Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker” back in 2019. There have though been a lot of start and stop efforts, with a slew of filmmakers and writers coming and going over the years.

Major news for Star Wars fans here, as Lucasfilm is reportedly developing a new trilogy with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) enlisted to write and produce all three films alongside Kathleen Kennedy.
Kinberg made his directorial debut with Dark Phoenix before going on to helm The 355. While these projects probably won't inspire much confidence, it's important to keep in mind that he will not be directing these new Star Wars movies.
Kinberg has written and produced a number of very successful projects, including the recent Deadpool and Wolverine. As far as the Galaxy Far, Far Away goes, he has previously worked as a co-creator on the Emmy-nominated animated series Star Wars Rebels alongside Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck, and was also a consultant on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Interestingly, Deadline believes that this new trilogy will continue the Skywalker Saga with Episodes 10, 11 and 12, but the trade...

10 years ago today, Disney and Lucasfilm celebrated principal photography finishing on the first film in their new Star Wars trilogy, revealing its name — The Force Awakens — to the world and spawning a gazillion fan theories in the process. Now, one decade, five films, a fistful of Disney+ series, and a whole lot of online discourse later, today appears to mark the beginning of a bold new chapter for the universe George Lucas built. Per Deadline's reporting, Lucasfilm and Disney have sealed a deal for X-Men franchise alumnus and Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg to write and produce an all-new trilogy of Star Wars movies.
Whilst Deadline were initially led to believe that Kinberg's new trilogy would comprise episodes 10 through 12 of the Skywalker Saga, industry insiders have since repudiated that intel, instead suggesting that these three new movies will in fact mark the beginning of a new saga entirely within the Star Wars universe.
