Animator Henry Thurlow who is popular for his work on One Piece, Boruto and other anime, recently put out a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) shedding light on what possibly could have gone wrong with the Uzumaki adaptation.

The anime has gone through an alarming downward spiral when it came to its animation quality, leaving everyone quite disheartened.

While Thurlow admitted that he was not fully aware of what happened behind the scenes of Uzumaki’s production, he lashed out at western producers for probably having ruined the show.

He pointed out that some producer from the anime, in a bid to just get done with production and release it, might have involved some subpar studio to work on the it.

“As for the Uzumaki production, at the end of the day it’s almost certainly *some* western producer’s fault. ‘This is taking too long so force...

Uzumaki anime’s executive producer Jason DeMarco recently took to Bluesky account to address fans’ concerns about the sudden dip in the animation quality of episode 2.

Despite the anime being in production for over 5 years, there were many issues and setbacks, according to DeMarco.

The team was ultimately faced with three options, i.e., to cancel the show, air only the first episode, or complete all four episodes despite the issues.

In the end, they chose the third option out of respect for the hard work invested in the series, even though they anticipated some backlash.

“It’s fine, we knew this would happen. I can’t talk about what went down but we were screwed over and the options were A) not finish and air nothing and call it a loss, B) Just finish and air ep 1 and leave it incomplete or C) run all four, warts and all.

After eagerly awaiting Uzumaki for over five years and enduring multiple delays, there was a considerable hype when the anime finally started airing.

However, there has been a noticeable drop in animation quality of the anime in episode 2, which premiered on Oct 6.

The moments of the characters were robotic and stiff, while the art itself was questionable at many points. In fact, if you mistake this episode for a fan animation, there would be no surprises.

Following the impressive debut of the first episode, which showcased stunning visuals and atmosphere, the drastic dip in the animation quality of episode 2, has naturally led to a wave of critical reactions online.

Many expected the animation to maintain the same high standard seen in episode 1.

A ten-episode original series “Suicide Squad Isekai,” produced by Warner Bros. Japan’s Anime Production and Wit Studio, will premiere on HBO Go later this month.

The show is an anime (Japanese-style animation) adaptation spawned by the DC Comics universe. It places DC characters including Harley Quinn, The Joker, and the Suicide Squad in new stories. The Japanese word ‘Isekai’ translates into English as ‘another world.’

Earlier this year, Warner Bros. confirmed that it will be increasing the number of such anime adaptations in Asia.

“We have a Japanese anime studio, which has been producing five or ten anime series per year, over the last few years,” said James Gibbons, Wbd president of Asia-Pacific in March. “We’ve approved expansion to take that to more than ten series per year.”

The studio has been operational since 2011 and delivered over 80 titles in that span, a mix of high-quality anime, live action series and movies.

Suicide Squad Isekai anime is set to make its global debut ahead of its Japanese broadcast. Warner Bros. Japan has officially revealed the streaming plans and premiere dates for the series, with international viewers getting an early treat.

Starting June 27, 2024, the first three episodes of the anime will be available to stream in the United States on both Max and Hulu. Following this initial release, new episodes will be added weekly, with the fourth episode scheduled for July 4, 2024.

The final episode will air on Aug 15, 2024.

In addition to its availability in the U.S., the anime will be accessible to international audiences through various streaming platforms.

"Our heads will be blown off in 60 hours." Warner Bros Japan + DC have unveiled the full official trailer for a Japanese anime series called Suicide Squad Isekai. It's now set to launch in 2024, after we posted a teaser earlier this year expecting it to arrive at the end of 2023. The term "isekai" is a Japanese word that means "another world" – which is also what the plot is about, with this ragtag team of DC villains literally explaining in here they're going to "another world." Super-Villains sent to Isekai!? The most dangerous & bizarre fantasy adventure unveiled!! The anime is produced by Warner Bros. Japan and it's animated by Wit Studio, directed by Eri Osada. The voice cast features Anna Nagase as Harley Quinn, Yūichirō Umehara as The Joker, Reigo Yamaguchi as Deadshot, Takehito Koyasu as Peacemaker (who looks hilarious in this), Jun Fukuyama as Clayface, and Subaru Kimura as the indomitable King Shark.

DC Comics is taking a bold step into the anime world with its latest project, ‘Suicide Squad Isekai.’ Collaborating with Wit Studio, known for hits like ‘Spy x Family’ and ‘Attack on Titan,’ they’re bringing a fresh twist to the familiar faces of the Suicide Squad. Fans got a glimpse of this unique blend in the recently released trailer, teasing a mix of action and new adventures.

The team’s lineup for this anime venture includes iconic characters like Harley Quinn, voiced by Anna Nagase, and Deadshot, brought to life by Reigo Yamaguchi. Joining them are King Shark, voiced by Subaru Kimura, Clayface with Jun Fukuyama’s voice, and Peacemaker, portrayed by Takehito Koyasu. Notably, Amanda Waller leads this eclectic group once more.

The official Twitter account of Warner Bros. Japan dropped a new teaser trailer for Suicide Squad Isekai anime on Dec 1, 2023.

Suicide Squad Isekai is a collaborative anime project between Warner Bros. Japan & Wit Studio. It is set to release globally in 2024.

Accompanying the teaser trailer is a brand new visual and cast members.

Moreover, it was also revealed that Tomoyasu Hotei will perform the opening theme song “Another World”.

The anime is directed by Eri Osada, with screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara. Akira Amano will serve as the character design and Kenichiro Suehiro will be in charge of composing the music.

The production of the project will be overseen by Warner Bros. Japan, with animation production handled by Wit Studio.

“Jujutsu Kaisen” Season 2 is set to air exclusively on Crunchyroll; the dark fantasy anime will make its return on July 6.

Season 2 will be broken up into two consecutive cours, or parts, and will start off telling the story of Gojo and Geto’s past in the “Hidden Inventory”/Premature Death” arc.
