Carly Fiorina is firing back at the ladies of “The View” after they mocked her appearance by saying she looked “demented” at Wednesday’s Republican presidential debate. “I am tired of being insulted by liberal feminists who talk about women’s issues when the reality is every issue is a woman’s issue,” Fiorina said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I was on ‘The View’ several months ago, they said none of that to my face,” Fiorina told host John Roberts, adding that the ABC hosts would never say anything like that about Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. “There is nothing more threatening to the liberal.

After a week of pride and progress, Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show Monday and dismantled a weekend's worth of conservative punditry and — to quote Justice Antonin Scalia — "pure applesauce" over the Supreme Court's recent decisions on healthcare and marriage equality.
Stewart's primary focus was the reaction to the marriage equality decision, which drew every bit of fear-mongering from the survivors of what Stewart dubbed the "Good News-magedon." While classic arguments like the slippery slope towards polygamy and "Won't somebody please think of the anti-gay florists?" were on rotation,...

New York's Paley Center for Media is in the middle of its TV-centric PaleyFest, which includes several panel discussions with the casts and crews of critically beloved shows. Last night, EW caught one with the people behind Bob's Burgers—including voice actors H. Jon Benjamin and Kristen Schaal, John Roberts, and the show's creator, Loren Bouchard. The hour-long conversation frequently detoured into improvisational riffing by the cast, but it also delivered some interesting information about the show. Here are ten of the best tidbits we learned. The show works at its own pace. Its creators are willing to sacrifice the...

It was a big week for racism in America, which made for plenty of fodder for “The Daily Show.” Last week began with the Supreme Court striking down a key affirmative action provision in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in the decision, Chief Justice John Roberts reasoned that so much has changed in America over the last 50 years that crucial parts of the landmark bill were no longer vital. The Daily Show took on both the legislative and judicial branches of the government last night. First, Oliver addressed the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the part of the Voting Rights Act that called for federal oversight of states with a history of disenfranchising voters, such as "Whitesylvania, Pale-afornia, Causasiacut, Klansas ... and Mississippi," because, according to Chief Justice John Roberts "our country has changed." Now that racism is over, as evidenced by the election of President Barack Obama (two times, no less), there's really no reason to go on exacting federal limitations on states with the worst track record of discrimination. So says Shelby County, Alabama, anyway. Jon Stewart, however, isn't buying it.
"If you want to take out a loan but have a history of bad credit you may need to show extra documentation or get a cosigner," Stewart explained. "Or, if you want to move near a school and you're a sex offender, you have to run that by someone."
The underlying sentiment behind the argument against section five of the voting rights act seems to be that the listed states are tired of being discriminated against for their previous discrimination. Making that point, Chief Justice John Roberts queried during the Supreme Court hearing of the case, "Is it the government's submission...

Bob's Burgers' John Roberts tweeted back in June that Jon Hamm would be doing a voice on the show come fall, and now we know who in the Belcher world will have the gravitas of Don Draper: He'll play a talking toilet. Burgers creator Loren Bouchard tells EW that Hamm's part is "a kind of E.T. homage, but instead of an alien, it’s this high-end talking electronic toilet that falls off a truck and lands in the woods." Gene (Eugene Mirman) befriends the talking commode and it becomes "kind of a love story between a boy and a toilet." The greatest love of all.

Chief Justice John Roberts pulled a fast one on the media who tried to skim his decision today, as he argued that the individual mandate was unconstitutional before he declared it a tax. Back in October of 2007 we put together a compendium of what we considered the greatest gay moments from The Daily Show's video archives. Everything from Jon Stewart sparring with Bill Bennett over gay marriage in 2006 all the way back to a hilarious 1999 Boy George interview by Beth Littleford.
But when it comes to Lgbt issues, Jon and his band of fake news reporters were just getting started. After all, in recent years they've had Dadt, Prop 8, Ken Reker, Nom and Maggie Gallagher and more to skewer.
Here are some of the best and most pointedly gay-supportive Daily Show moments since 2007. Did we miss something substantive? Feel free to add your favorites to the comments!

But the morning memo reveals more changes at Am, including the departure of executive producer Jamie Kraft, who's headed to NBC Nightly News, and format changes designed to make the morning show "better suited to the morning and to better reflect the way people view news as they're getting going with their day."...

TV journalists face shortages in Katrina coverage
NEW YORK -- As things turned from bad to worse in the Gulf Coast region a day after Hurrricane Katrina roared through, network and cable news journalists on Tuesday struggled to cover the ever-widening story. With possibly hundreds dead, many injured and millions displaced -- including most of New Orleans, which was underwater -- reporters found themselves covering a story that got bigger as daylight rose on what looked on television like a scene from a Hollywood disaster movie. "This city is so devastated", said John Roberts, the veteran CBS News correspondent who covered his first hurricane, Hugo, in 1989 in South Carolina. Roberts spoke Tuesday afternoon from a satellite truck in what he described as "the only dry part of New Orleans." Journalists, who on Monday had weathered the 150 mph-plus winds and heavy rains from Katrina, found themselves faced not only with storm damage but also shortages of food, water and gasoline. Rising water in New Orleans KO'd an NBC News truck and cut off most TV journalists in the Crescent City from the rest of the country. And the deteriorating conditions there led to concerns about looting, other crime, dysentery and other water-borne diseases in the 90 degree-plus heat.

Nets improvise on Gulf Coast as Katrina hits
NEW YORK -- TV news scattered hundreds of staffers throughout the Gulf Coast on Monday to cover Hurricane Katrina, as reporters braved 150 mph winds and 20-foot storm surges (as well as balky satellite links) to report on the storm. Katrina cut across south Florida late last week and, by Friday, the news divisions moved resources to cover what seemed like a dangerous but all-too-common hurricane, like many in the past year or so. But the storm intensified early Sunday, and so did the coverage plans, network executives said Monday. "When it got to be a Category 5, that changes the kind of resources you send into the area," ABC News senior vp newsgathering Paul Slavin said. ABC News had seven correspondents and 14 crews, for example. NBC's Brian Williams became the only network news anchor on the scene; other correspondents on the scene included Fox News' Shep Smith, who reported from the French Quarter in New Orleans; Steve Harrigan from Gulfport, Miss.; CBS' John Roberts; and CNN's Anderson Cooper and Miles O'Brien. All three network news morning shows continued coverage until at least noon ET.
