Jerry Beharry
- Actor
Jerry Beharry was born on October 13,1977 in Boston, Massachusetts to Zennifer Beharry (née Mohammed), a PBX Operator & Roy "Jerry" Beharry, a small business owner. At Poinciana High School, Beharry was both a jock and an academic. While he was an all-around competitive athlete, he was considered by most who knew him to be even more gifted in the classroom. Beharry attended the University of South Florida on a full academic scholarship, where he double-majored in Biology and Psychology, with medical aspirations. During this time, he also took up martial arts (Shotokan), earning his 2nd degree (Nidan) Black Belt. He graduated with both his Biology and Psychology degrees in 4 years. Before he began acting, Beharry would meet his wife, Neha Beharry (née Desai), a registered nurse, and would have a son (Jayan) and daughter (Avni), supporting them with his work in the IT space (for 25 years), after turning away from medicine.
Beharry's earliest work was as a full-time voice actor. After the passing of his father, he felt the need to honor his memory by wasting no opportunity to chase his dreams, and began seeking on-screen roles, with his first shot coming as a background player in the Marvel Studios film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). He would go on to also appear in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022), as both productions were being filmed concurrently in Atlanta. This gave him a great opportunity to learn from James Gunn as a director, as well as A-listers such as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan.
A string of appearances in TV/Film would follow, with his next role coming in the Netflix film A Family Affair (2024) with Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Joey King and, and a few short months later, The Family Plan (2023), with Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan. It would be a hometown reunion, of sorts, for Beharry and Wahlberg, both of whom grew up in the same rough Boston suburb of Dorchester during the 1980's. He finished filming in 2022 with The Electric State (2025), along with Millie Bobby Brown, Stanley Tucci and reunited on-screen with Chris Pratt.
Things started off well for Beharry in January of 2023 when he landed the role of Dr. Fisher on Gotham Knights (2023), officially making the leap from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to DC Entertainment. Hopes of finding further success with this show, however, were soon dimmed as the show was canceled after its first season. A subsequent surgery in 2023 would sideline Beharry for the remainder of 2023, preventing any further filming projects as he took time away from filming to focus on his rehab and recovery.
Beharry would come back strong in 2024 with multiple appearances in Season 2 of the Hulu legal drama, Reasonable Doubt (2022). He also had a very brief appearance on the new Peacock network series Teacup (2024), before landing a role in the highly anticipated Superman (2025), reuniting him once again with Director James Gunn, now the co-head of the DC Entertainment.
Beharry has learned from some of the biggest names in the industry, and continues to wildly vary his film/TV choices, looking to further his career with core roles that allow him to push himself and grow in the industry. He still continues to work in voice-acting.
