Chris Ayres, an actor most known for voicing Dragon Ball character Frieza, has died at 56. A cause of death has not been specified.
His passing was announced by Ayres’ girlfriend, fellow voice actor Krystal Laporte, on social media. “On October 18th at 8:40 pm, my world went dark,” Laporte wrote. “Christopher Owen Ayres passed away peacefully, held close by his mother, brother, and girlfriend.”
Laporte went on to address anime fans saying, “Chris loved you all. How much he loved other people filled the vast majority of our conversations. To those of you who truly loved him back, thank you. To those of you who stayed in touch, checked on him, reminded him that he was so, so much more than his job. You were the fuel of his fight. You fed the dreams of a future that kept him going longer than any normal person could go. I hope where you are,...

Some of you may not know Christopher Ayres by name, but you've probably heard his work. While he's typically known as the voice of villain Frieza in the Dragon Ball Z franchise, Ayres has had a hand in voicing several other anime dubs you likely know and love. Now, he needs our help.
Ayres has been diagnosed with end-stage Copd and requires a double lung transplant in order to survive as well as two additional surgeries. A fundraiser has been started and supported in his name to help for the cost of the medical procedure, which comes out to around $25,000. Many other Dbz actors have shared this cause to help Ayres out, and since we're all big fans here at GeekTyrant, we wanted to join in as well.
If you'd like to donate to Chris's fund, be sure to go here. Donations have already exceeded $16,000, so it's possible we could...

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son – Martin Lawrence, Brandon T. Jackson, Jessica Lucas
I Am Number Four – Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Dianna Agron
Unknown – Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, January Jones
Movie of the Week
Unknown
The Stars: Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, January Jones
The Plot: A man (Neeson) awakens from a coma, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity. With the help of a young woman (Kruger), he sets out to prove who he is.
The Buzz: Liam Neeson rocks. So happy to see his career is still in full swing. There have been a couple missable films on his most recent filmography (Clash of the Titans, The A-Team), but those were smaller roles, and he’s had his fair share of ‘must sees’ over the past few years (Taken, Five Minutes of Heaven, Chloe). The trailer for Unknown was thoroughly enticing.

if you have even the slightest bit of interest in Ozzy Osbourne, please check out this book. I've never been a huge fan (but also never disliked him), but after reading this, I really feel as though I know the guy. That's crazy, I realize, but he and his co-author did such a great job capturing his life and his voice, that you feel all cozied up to him by the end.
Before I get ahead of myself, a bit about the autobiography: yes, he had a co-author. Osbourne is profoundly dyslexic. He can read, but has read only a few books in his entire life. He isn't a writer, either, obviously. He quit school at 15 and by his own admission has spent most of his life turning his brain to jelly with alcohol and drugs. So yeah, Chris Ayres did the actual writing. Which worried me at first. Ghost...
