Back in 2010, legendary producer Roger Corman and his wife/producing partner Julie Corman teamed up with the late director Declan O’Brien – who is best known for making several of the Wrong Turn sequels – to bring the world the creature feature Sharktopus, which is about exactly what it sounds like it would be about. A shark/octopus hybrid that goes on a man-eating binge. That film received two sequels, Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda and Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf… and now it has been given the remake treatment. When a rogue scientist discovers an immense egg in the dark recesses of a rainforest he thinks hes stumbled across his fame and fortune. Soon the beast is on the loose, hunting for its unborn child, rampaging through the country and destroying everything in its path in a mass of CGI-enhanced gory-glory.

A killer-creature B-movie from the Roger Corman staple, Piranhaconda is yet another made for Syfy TV movie suprisingly this one comes from director Jim Wynorski, who is well-known in the horror community for successfully mixing T&A and horror.

With co-directors Justin Jones and Chris W. Freeman’s horror-comedy feature Sorority Party Massacre dropping on DVD via Anchor Bay Entertainment on February 11, 2014, we caught up with the latter to garner word on what to expect of the release, as well as to shake him down on the status of the flick’s sequel Bachelorette Party Massacre, his other projects, and more.

“We are elated that Sorority Party Massacre is being released by Anchor Bay,” said Freeman of the film, which stars Tom Downey (Mirror Image), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), Ed O'Ross (Six Feet Under), Leslie Easterbrook (The Devil’s Rejects), Richard Moll (Cold Case), adult film legend Ron Jeremy and new ‘Scream Queens’ Marissa Skell, Eve Mauro and Yvette Yates.

Piranha not got enough twists and turns for you? Anaconda lacking the requisite bite? Well, why not have the best of both worlds? A new trailer for the American World Pictures' project 'Piranhaconda' which revolves around a piranha/anaconda killing machine has emerged whereby Corman serves as exec producer. Producer Mark Burnett and Youtoo.com will allow viewers to create 15-second videos that are filtered and then broadcast on TV—thereby creating the first social TV Network. This venture joins the Burnett company Video In My Back Yard and CEO of Youtoo.com Chris Wyatt. This will create a web series, essentially, interactive content in which the creator of the series, invites viewers to be on television. Burnett will also produce 250 short programs that will introduce and establish identity to the network. Mark Burnett states:

It's a very mixed bag this week for horror title releases. We're not sure how Dread-worthy the supernatural drama Hereafter (directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon, Bryce Dallas Howard and Jay Mohr) is but have included it because of its afterlife aspects.

On the list you'll also find a couple of schlocky monster movies, one a double-feature of classic Gamera entries and the other from the Syfy channel featuring Sharktopus (a sea creature that is both a shark and an octopus) with an over-acting Eric Roberts. In addition Syfy is releasing its mockbuster Battle of Los Angeles to take advantage of the current Aliens-Invading-Los-Angeles craze.

Just a few weeks ago we told y'all that the next creature feature going into production was the Roger Corman produced/ Jim Wynorski helmed Piranhaconda with the announcement that former Miss USA  Shandi Finnessey (Sharktopus, Dancing with the Stars) had been cast as Kimmy. Today we have huge news that Michael Madsen and Rachel Hunter are joining in on the creature feature fun.  Madsen will play Dr. Lovegrove while Hunter will portray Thalia. 

Rounding out the cast are Michael Swan (The Bold and the Beautiful, Dinocroc vs Supergator) as Pike, Diana Terranova (Californication, Camel Spiders) as Jamie, Terri Ivens (All My Children) as Rose and Kurt Yaeger (Dolphin Tale, Camel Spiders) as Gunner. Production is going on in Hawaii.

Matchflick News brings word that production of the mutant piranha/anaconda monster movie Piranhaconda is ramping up to begin production. Roger Corman is certainly churning out the marine horror movies of late. What seems to be the whole basis for the SyFy channels existence these days is the likes of 'Mega Piranha' or 'Sharktopus' etc. The latter of course at least gave us a bikini clad peek at ex American beauty queen Shandi Finnessey (below). Beware Sharktopus! Whilst a monster that is ‘half shark, half octopus, all killer’, as the advertising blurb (quite accurately) describes it, might not be top of the list of obvious aquatic menaces, the wacky premise certainly promises a great deal of fun. This is even more so given the presence of B-movie legend Roger Corman, and a half decent helmer in the form of Declan O’Brien, whose “Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead” made a respectable attempt at bucking the law of decreasing returns. I'm finding it very difficult to embrace Syfy's new range of low-budget TV horror movies, particularly the ridiculous water-based flicks such as 'Mega Piranha' or 'Dinoshark'. Well producer Roger Corman will see his latest mini-budget horror sci-fi movie 'Sharktopus' (yes the story of a Shark and Octopus hybrid killing machine) hit DVD and Blu-ray this March and a new trailer to help early promotions has been revealed. I'm not particularly a fan of the b-movie-esque attempts by Syfy of late. They look cheap and nasty and don't have any of the qualities true b-movies had from years back. I don't know, maybe it's an age thing. Anyhoo, the latest Roger Corman produced hybrid fest is 'Sharktopus'. It hit our TV screens a little while back and now its hitting DVD and Blu-Ray on 15 March 2011. Last night marked the beginning of the 200th-episode celebration of Dancing With the Stars. What? It seems like the series just started! Not. So many random crops of alumni turned up for this huge ABC event. There they were, in scattered patches of the liiiiiiiive crowd, at once funny, fascinating, intergalactic, and sad. They bothered to show up, so I thought I’d bother to screengrab them in all their return-to-Planet Mirrorballus glory! There's one thing wrong with the new Dancing With the Stars lineup: Everything! Kate Gosselin?! Jake Pavelka?! Chad Ochocinco?! This is not the Dwts that we know. This is an imposter! A fraud! A show that takes the meaning of the word "stars" literally, as opposed to ironically! Et tu, Tom Bergeron? Historically, the ABC franchise has been a reliable source of employment for people whose fame the audience must take at their word. You're a star, Albert Reed? Ok. You, too, Shandi Finnessey?
