Robin Coleman(II)
- Actress
Hailing from Friendswood, a suburb of Houston, Robin Coleman has made a
Texas sized impact on the sports and entertainment worlds... You can't
have been born that close to petrochemicals and not be a little
bionic...
Robin describes herself as 'part Anna Nicole, part Anna Kournikova, and part Queen Latifah'. She explains this as a tall voluptuous blonde athlete who's ridden a 3rd place finish in a world sporting event for all it was worth, while maintaining an intelligent, cynical, and comedic view of the world... and the ability to rhyme, on occasion.
Robin is an actress and athlete, and has worked to combine the two in her profession. In November 2007, she was selected as one of twelve new American Gladiators; a revival of the classic MGM sports classic that landed as a splash hit on prime time NBC in Jan 2008. Using her comedy background and creativity to create Hellga, her uber Nordic Knockout persona, she rocketed to popularity, quickly becoming an easily recognized fan favorite and a part of pop culture. It ain't easy fighting crime in a skirt, but someone has to do it.
Additionally in television, Robin has worked on various scripted shows, playing roles like Polaris on VIP and Tanya on Days of Our Lives. She has also appeared as herself on many reality, talk, and variety shows, including the Carson Daly show, Deal or No Deal, Tabitha's Takeover, and Star Dates, where she went out with Screetch from the 90s show Saved By the Bell. Her first love is comedy, and that very public date proved it.
Robin's work to become a comedic actress is why the call she received in 2008 was so truly exciting - to become part of the Tyler Perry comedy franchise! Madea Goes to Jail is Robin's first feature film (she had previously done several independent / student type films that you've neither heard of nor seen). A big fan of Madea's comedy and positive messages, it was the experience of a lifetime to work with Tyler and the cast and crew in Atlanta this past summer, no matter how much Madea might have roughed her up in the joint. Hallelujer!
While she's been in Los Angeles, Robin has educated herself in many disciplines: she studied method acting at the Baron Brown Institute and Improv comedy at the Groundlings School. She has also trained in pro wrestling, boxing, rowing, and mixed martial arts. Regardless of how this might sound, she swears that she's friendly.
As an athlete, Robin has competed as a bodybuilder, figure competitor, rower, and as a strongwoman the inaugural World's Strongest Woman competition. Robin was one of 8 hand-selected women to compete in this prestigious competition. She placed 3rd in the contest, which became her calling card - because in Los Angeles, the world of size 0, a big 6' girl who can squat a car (and make you laugh) tends to stand out!
Robin Coleman. Larger than Life. Actress, Athlete, American Gladiator.
