Steve Du Casse
- Actor
When Steve was 13, the family migrated to Sydney, Australia where he completed his schooling. During his teens, Steve became a male model and that led to a feature role in the top rating, award winning Australian television drama series Sons and Daughters, playing French Master Chef Philippe Souchon. He was also with the Sydney Opera Company performing in various operas at the Sydney Opera House.
One of Steve's passions was - and still is - cooking. This led to him owning and operating his own catering business in partnership with his wife. They operated catering contracts in various clubs throughout Sydney. It was at one of these clubs that Steve's singing career began, by chance. Many people would approach his wife and tell her that they thought Steve looked like Elvis. One night, a famous Entertainer from New Zealand was dining at the Club and he asked Steve's wife if Steve could sing and commented that he looked a lot like Elvis (he had in fact met Elvis during his career). Tania told him that Steve could in fact sing and the entertainer managed to coax an insecure Steve up to sing an Elvis song. The entertainer - and the audience - gave Steve a standing ovation with the NZ entertainer yelling out "this boy can sing". That was the beginning of Steve's Elvis Tribute career. From that night on, Steve would sing for about 30 minutes 3 times a week at the club, just for the sheer pleasure as he was not receiving payment. People then started approaching him and asking if he would sing at their son's wedding, or their father's 70th birthday and before he knew it, the gigs started rolling in. Steve then got accreditation from the Australian Bridal Service and started attending bridal fairs. This built up his reputation within the wedding industry. He was then approached to audition for Star City Casino as they were not happy with the tribute artists who had already auditioned. They were so pleased with Steve that they booked him immediately and he was told by the booking agent that "Steve has virtually become Star City Casino's Elvis of choice overnight".
The casino experience prompted Steve to expand his show and he auditioned dancers from one of Sydney's top dance schools to join his Las Vegas Showgirl team. Amongst them are Dancers who have been accepted to perform at the Moulin Rouge in Paris and on the Show Boat in Sydney. The Dancers have numerous costume changes throughout the show - each costume more glittery than the last. Having the Showgirls in the show has really added that touch of Las Vegas Glamour, leaving audiences spellbound by their glamourous costumes and dazzling routines.
Steve called the show Legend Of Elvis and settled on the stage name of Steve King. As the show continued to grow in popularity, Steve was forced to choose between being a chef or an entertainer. The decision for him was easy and he has never looked back.
Steve King has also been dubbed 'Australia's most popular Elvis Tribute Artist' by Harpers Bazaar Magazine after opening up L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Week at Government House in 2010. Steve has appeared on Channel 7's The Morning Show and Channel 7's Four Weddings. Legend Of Elvis have also performed twice at the Official Crowning Of Mrs World Australia National Finals.
In Australia, Steve King is commonly referred to as Australia's best Elvis Tribute Artist with the looks and vocals closest to the real king.
For added impact, the show also includes amusing audience participation. As Steve King involves the audience in his performance, for example, giving out scarves to the ladies whilst singing Love Me Tender, and inviting members of the audience to perform some classic Elvis moves, as well as getting them to sing, it leaves them feeling as if they were a part of the show.
Steve's biggest regret is that his father and mother did not live to see Steve's success as an entertainer.
