Mark Stirton was born in the city of Aberdeen on Scotland's north east
coast. Interested in movies from an early age it wasn't until his late
teens that he became involved in making them. Stirton and some of his
friends founded a video group at their local college, within a year he
was writing and directing many of the productions himself. At the age
of 25, Stirton produced his first independent short film - Spooked
(1995), a psychological horror. Spooked was nominated for an award at
the 1996 Glasgow film festival. Intending to make his hobby into a
career, Stirton studied broadcast media at Aberdeen College then later
worked as a cameraman / vision mixer for a local television station.
Over this period he and his friends developed several television pilots
ideas which were produced on the AVID system; marking a way forward for
all his future projects. In 2003 he founded his own digital film
production company, Stirton Productions.
