Born Nicholas Angue Sloan to John Angue Sloan, stockbroker, and Gretel
R. Sloan, German model, Nick came into show business at the young age
of 4. He first appeared as a runway model for children's clothing in
Florida and in a TV commercial for Tampa Electric. As his father
enjoyed the stage in Clearwater's Little Theatre along side character
actor Charles Napier, and his mother had been a top model in Berlin,
Germany, both parents encourage Nick to follow the path of show
business. It wasn't until after graduating high school that the acting
bug came. Through a friend, Nick found his way to an agent and acting
classes with Kathy Laughlin acting studio
in Tampa, Florida. At the acting studio, he became friends and acted
with 'Gary Daniels' He loved acting so much that he dropped out of
college to pursue his newfound dream. Through numerous grueling round
trip drives from Tampa to Miami for countless auditions, Nick landed TV
commercials for companies such as Publix Supermarkets, Kentucky Fried
Chicken, and even a MasterCard commercial with Jackie Gleason. He even
landed small parts in the made for HBO movie _Long Gone_ ( 1987) and
the comedy _Summer Rental_ (1985). At 21 years of age and SAG card in
hand; Nick made the cross-country journey to Hollywood. After a year of
rejection and bad luck, Nick headed back to Florida to re-group. During
this rejuvenating year, Nick was a stand-in for Don Johnson on Miami
Vice, did several more TV commercials including a national for
McDonalds, and won a small role in the horror movie _Phantom of the
Ritz_ (1992) . This along with a bit of modeling work gave Nick the
energy needed for another trip back to Hollywood. This second trip to
Hollywood was filled with studying at the Beverly Hills Playhouse,
miles and miles of mountain bike riding, wave after of wave of surfing
from Ventura County to K-38 in Baja, Mexico, and hundreds of
rejections. At 25, Nick decided to pack it up, give up his dream of
acting, and headed back to University. While at Florida State
University for a Masters in Psychology, Nick dabbled in acting, but
stuck to the books. In 1994, 10 years after high school graduation, and
fresh out of university, Nick decided to join the United States Peace
Corps. Nick spent about 2 years in the far east of Russia as an English
teacher. He managed to become quite fluent in Russia, but stayed away
from acting. After a short return to the USA, Nick headed to Japan to
travel and have a bit of a working holiday. He continued working as an
English teacher, but the show business bug came back to bite. In 2000,
Nick was one of the first radio DJ'S at the new Radio station, Radio-i.
This was just the beginning of a prosperous career in Japan. Since
then, he has had several parts in Japanese TV dramas including "Order
Made: Tailor Kusunoki" (2004) (mini) , numerous TV commercials, has
appeared in over 30 company videos, and done hundreds of voice over
jobs.
