Andrew Amani is a festival winning screenwriter and director
In 2020, his short script, "Cabin Fever", a comedy about a couple stuck on their honeymoon during the pandemic, won best script at the Screenwriters and Actors of Hollywood script competition. In the same year, "Clowns In The Kitchen", a comedy spoof of Hell's Kitchen, was a semi-finalist at the Filmmatic Comedy Screenplay Awards and a quarter-finalist at the TSL Screenplay Contest.
Dedicated to honoring the craft of screenwriting, he spent the last eight years studying at: Upright Citizens Brigade, ScreenwritingU, Los Angeles Valley College, Los Angeles Community College, The Writing Pad and UCLA. His short "Sumtin' Like 'Dat", created and developed at UCLA, is a feel good drama about an Asian musician struggling to make it in the country music industry. It won Best Student Film at the Los Angeles Film and Script Festival in 2013.
In addition to writing comedy, he writes topical thrillers and stories inspired by true events. He is prepping two feature-length screenplays for the market: "Cry-ote", a thriller based on events surrounding coyote attacks and The Adventures of Tabora & Kai: The River Runs Dry", an adult animation about the ancient rivalry between hyenas and lions.
He holds a bachelors degree in theater with a focus on acting from Columbia College Chicago; a Certificate of Directing with Distinction (honors) from UCLA Extension; and made the Dean's List and Phi Theta Kappa (honor's society) at LAVC.
