Christy Tennant was born in a suburb of Detroit. Her mother was a
church organist and musical theater accompanist, and at age 4, Christy
spent a lot of time at a community theater with her mother, who was
playing piano for a production of "The Sound of Music." As a child,
Christy performed in church and community theater, and she had her
first professional job dancing in the chorus for a production of "Me
and My Girl." At 19, she joined a national children's tour, playing the
Princess in "The Frog Prince." She earned her SAG card by playing
"Winifred," the town seamstress, in UPN's short-lived Civil War drama,
"Legacy." After moving to New York, her career included more roles on
stage (West Side Story, Godspell, The Member of the Wedding) and
television (As the World Turns.) Today, she hosts a podcast called IAM
Conversations.
