Marijke van Niekerk is a professional musician and writer from South Africa, living in Los Angeles. She's a popular film and TV session singer and performs regularly with Pacific Chorale. You can hear her on such movie scores as "Frozen," "Sing," "Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle," "Jumanji: The Next Level," "Transformers: The Last Knight," "Cowboys & Aliens," "Oblivion," "Mulan," "The Hangover Part III," and many more.
Marijke holds a Bachelor of Music (Film Scoring) degree from Berklee College of Music, Boston and a Master's in International Relations from the University of Nottingham. As a pianist and singer, she's performed with such renowned orchestras as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Munich Symphony, KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic, and Pacific Symphony, including at their Carnegie Hall debut in 2018.
Marijke sang on the Deutsche Grammophon recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 8, "Symphony of a Thousand," featuring Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Chorale, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and Los Angeles Children's Chorus.The album won the Grammy for Best Choral Performance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
As a copywriter and Creative Director, she works in advertising and marketing.
To switch up her hobbies, Marijke is also a sommelier and has studied wine and viticulture with Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine Scholar Guild, and at UCLA.
