Isabelle was a fan of The Hunger Games books and wrote to the director Gary Ross, telling him she would like to be in the movie. She originally read for the role of Katniss, but was called back to read for the part of Clove.

Isabelle studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

Fuhrman is on the Advisory Board of the Love & Art Children's Foundation, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization.

Her mother, Elina Fuhrman (née Kozmits), is a journalist who immigrated from Soviet Moldova, and has worked for CNN. Her father, Nick Fuhrman, is an American former political candidate and business consultant.

Plays guitar and sings.

In preparation for The Novice (2021), she underwent an intense training regiment, during which she gained ten pounds of muscle. She also did all the rowing in the film herself.

She has an older sister, Madeline Fuhrman, who is a singer and songwriter.

Had a supporting role in M. Night Shyamalan's film After Earth (2013) as Rayna in the original cut, and she even appeared in the trailer, but nearly all of her scenes were left on the cutting room floor. She has one scene left in the theatrical cut, and only the back of her head is visible in the shot.

Her father is of Irish descent, and was adopted and raised by a family of Russian Jewish heritage, surnamed Fuhrman. Isabelle's mother is Russian Jewish.

Was featured as one of the 55 faces of the future by Nylon Magazine Young Hollywood Issue.

Auditioned for the role of Lili in Case 39 (2009), but the role went to Jodelle Ferland.

Loves animals. She has two dogs (Lilly & Jennings) and had a hamster named Lola that she carried around everywhere. She took her hamster to the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 for the premiere of her film, Hounddog (2007). Lola the hamster died in July 2009.

Good friends with Don't Let Me Go (2013) and Dear Eleanor (2016) co-star Joel Courtney.

Is a fan of The Beatles.

Was number 2 on the Best-Dressed List at 2009 Teen Choice Awards.

Fuhrman resides with her family in Los Angeles, California.
