Emre Izat is a Turkish-American documentary filmmaker and creative executive known for his emphasis on story structure and genre expertise in wildlife, science, tech/politico, history, and docudramas. After training as a violinist and as an actor and director in the theatre, Izat first joined National Geographic in 2003, working in story development, and then pivoting to producing and directing. He joined Off the Fence in Amsterdam in 2010, where he produced, directed, or wrote multiple films and series. Following the success of his Emmy-nominated film Naledi: One Little Elephant, Izat joined Netflix as a creative executive in 2019, where he oversaw a slate of over 20 documentary series.
