Heather Fink came to filmmaking from comedy. She has been making funny videos since she was a kid growing up in small town New Jersey, raised by a Dutch mother, Jewish American father, schizophrenic grandmother, and an older sister. After running an all female improv, sketch & video comedy group in college, she started performing stand-up comedy in NYC in 2005, and continued making funny videos, blogging, and performing comedy. After making a few viral comedy videos, in 2009 she began NYU's Grad Film program as Writer/Director. She pays the bills as a Sound Person for film and TV, including Marvel's "Daredevil" and Hulu's "The Dropout." Previous jobs include PR for a gay porn company, Senator Kennedy Intern, and Content Strategy for Digital Media companies. Previous schooling includes a Philosophy degree from The George Washington University & a year of law school.
She's directed over 35 comedy shorts, including Sara Benincasa's "The Focus Group," which was featured on Hello Giggles, The Onion, Huffington Post, Refinery 29, and more. She also participated in the 2016 Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Program and shadowed Emmy nominated Director Kate Dennis on an episode of "The Tick." Heather also directed the indie TV pilot "Urban Teach Now" for writer/producers SJ & Ginny, which was an official selection at the NYTV Fest and ITV Fest in October 2016. Fink's first feature film as writer/director "Inside You" released on Amazon Prime in October 2017. In 2018, Fink returned to sketch comedy, directing comedy shorts for College Humor. In 2019 she directed "Sosi," a short film for UCB's Mark Sarian & Ari Voukydis. In 2020 she continued developing original TV and film screenplays during lock down. In 2021 Fink directed "Banfield After Party" - a branded content comedy web-series featuring celebrity pets, and in 2022, her short film "Quiche" premiered at the Lighthouse Film Festival.
As a filmmaker she's directed top comedy talents including Hannibal Buress, Griffin Newman, Tawny Cypress, Himanshu Suri, Zach Cregger, Angela Trimbur, Will Hines, Kevin Allison, Sara Benincasa, Will Janowitz, Curtis Gwinn, Bobby Tisdale, Slovin and Allen, and Ann Carr. Heather has been featured on MTV, the ECNY Awards as a nominee, as a IFC/Time Warner/Sundance competition finalist, Gawker, Adult Swim, Time Out NY, Dr. Phil, TV Guide Magazine, The Washington Post, the LES Film Festival, DC Comedy Fest, Coney Island Film Festival, Atlanta Underground Film Festival, Atlantic City Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, LA Comedy Fest, NY Shorts Fest, Santa Fe Film Festival, The Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema, The Garden State Film Festival, Splitsider, The Interrobang, and on Comedy Death Ray.
