Derek Powell was born April 13th, 1970 in Detroit, Michigan, to William (police officer) and Emilie Powell (writer), and attended high school in Florida. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy & the United States Coast Guard, holds a degree in the field of Aeronautics and is a licensed FAA Aircraft Mechanic.
