Dian Van Patten, daughter of Tully Dickey Helfer and Carolyn Ione Van Patten, she is the youngest of five siblings. She was born in Burbank, California and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Her family is known for training animals to work on "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Petticoat Junction", and "Green Acres", among other television shows and films. An ordained minister with two PhDs, Dian Van Patten is a published author whose interior decorating designs won her recognition on five Times Square billboards.
Dian lives in a rural suburb with her husband, Jai Singh (an internationally recognized biomechanical engineer/accident reconstructionist expert), and their five goats, one cat, one dog, and hundreds of wildlife on their 53 acres. Dian has two daughters, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
